Circa 1845, this home was constructed by Archibald Smith. This plantation home was the center of production of cotton to fuel the mills that made Roswell one of the key centers of the textile industry in the late 1800's. The house and most of the family's furnishings are still intact - tours are available.
The plantation was inhabited by the Smith family along with approximately 30 slaves, and during the civil war by the northern army, until Archibald's death in 1880.
Photo converted to Black and White using Infrred profile with slight enhancements further on greens and applied slight yellow tint.
