I've had the lace mold for a few months now and was waiting for the right opportunity...and hey presto!! I got the opportunity. Was a bit nervous trying my hand at it for the first time but I'm really glad I did cause I love the depth it adds to a simple cake.
White on white is soooo in in my books right now...and a hint of avacado green in the ribbon pulls the entire design together. Both tiers are 6 inches tall, covered in white fondant with white royal icing stencilling. Handmade gumpaste topper flowers included blossoms, peonies, ranunculus and leaves.

A STONE AND WHAT …
This is probably the largest mural in Warsaw (about 1400m2), and was created in 2009 by Wiktor Malinowski, at an event organized by Delikates Theatre (www.teatrdelikates.pl/).
The house is a tenement built more or less in 1910 / 1914, (or rather something that has left after WWII and all these years after). In WWII time the nazists organized the Jewish ghetto in the area here (and the old wall of the ghetto is still standing nearby too). There are still visible a hole in the wall of a house, after thrown bomb(s) from an airplane(s). Now the building is abandoned.
Pre-war buildings in Warsaw are not quite the same, as in the other cities. In the end of the war buildings in Warsaw were destroyed (completely) in 80%, so people here (anyway, those who care), are crazy about saving as much as possible historical buildings of Warsaw, and try to make something to make them alive again.
The painting is a kind of play with Polish word/words:
Kamień – means a stone
Kamienica – means a tenement house
Kamień i co – a stone and what
Kamienico – can be a question asked the building
There are many questions here - of the past, about what happens here now, and about the future … (it’s possible it will disappear soon). About love, thinking, remembrance.
And then, suddenly, red ballon – I read it as hope for better future. But also I have read, that Malinowski during the painting event had sent to the sky 33 balloons.
In the “reflection” of the balloon you can see Warsaw’s panorama, including Palace of Culture and Science. Also white and red are colours of Polish flag (was it incidentally or not ?).
I have some favourite old buildings in Warsaw, and it’s one of them. Anyway, I love this building, and I think somewhere I have it’s photo before it was painted.
Seeing it now, the mural on it makes me happy, that other people love it too. There are a lot of them, now I know.
This is the card I sent to Barb for the spring card exchange! She has told me she recieved it today!! YEAH!! How fun this was!!
