Sprained my ankle shortly after this short. Keep me home for two weeks and counting. A time to kick back and relax, despite my reluctant about it.

拍完這張後不久就把腳踭扭傷了。即使有多麼不情願,也只好乖乖待在家休息養傷。

A view above the dark rocks at Bunga Beach South in the Mimosa Rocks National Park on the Far South Coast of NSW. I have been past these black rocks many times but usually leaving the beach at this point due to the large rock on the right. This time I came back the other way and found I could not pass this rock without a lot of difficulty, so had to carefully backtrack over the boulder beach, which is a real “ankle sprainer” and scamper up a steep slope to a track above the beach. Well, will know better at my age than to try this again, especially with camera gear!

Sorry Keith. I might have sprained a finger changing lenses for this one.

the day I sprained my wrist ;-)

For some reason when I was shooting this image I couldn’t stop my mind from drifting back to one of the best books ever written – Oh, the Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss.

I remember my devotion to that book as a child and the words within it have carried true:

“You will come to a place where the streets are not marked.

Some windows are lighted. But mostly they're darked.

A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin!

Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in?

How much can you lose? How much can you win?”

So for those of us around the world celebrating Halloween in a few days time and for the others choosing where to go to next here’s an image dedicated to you.

Just don’t look back and you will succeed? (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed).

View large and, as always, thanks for looking!

Post Note: I've had a few people contact me to ask how this shot was put together so ill throw up a little 'making of' on my Facebook site soon for those who are interested.

Fortunately for me Antwerp is a great walking city with lots of its best bits close together in a compact old town as I sprained my ankle the first evening we arrived after drinking a little too much great beer at a local pub. This shot is of the Het Steen or The Stone translated which protects the east bank of the Scheldt river, built in the early part of the 13th century it is probably Antwerp’s oldest surviving building as most things were constructed of wood at the time. The castle once part of a larger complex has a unique two tone look due a renovation in 1520 that used sandstone instead of the original limestone material soon as renovations were complete it found use as a prison for almost 300 years, today it houses the National Maritime Museum.

I took this on Sept 29, 2008 with my D70s and Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Lens at 25mm, 1/400s, f10 ISO 200 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia ,Topaz, and DXO Nik

I assume this high mountain lake, at 9518 feet (2900 m), has an island in it (it does) but it can't be seen from this location. My lungs noticed the altitude while exploring here.

The tide was rising and the sea was rough. Between the waves crashing against the rocks and feeling the sea breeze, I felt great inner peace.

Charlie has been very playful and active since I've been brushing him everyday. I've also cut his food back a little bit, and that often makes them more active. He has lost a little bit of weight which is good for him to do that.

We are all good here. Josie has had some pain in her hips, I have had her to the vet, and she is on Meloxicam for a few weeks. I think it's a sprain from jumping down off the kitchen bench straight to the floor, the vet thinks it is arthritis and would like to give her some injections. I am seeing if she fixes up in a few weeks of Meloxicam first.

Happy new week.

Canyon, that is. Deepest canyon on the continent.

Title challenge....sorry.

Green in May, brown and quite hot in summer.

I found it heavenly to explore and hike here over several decades in the spring and fall tho. Rattlesnakes and ankle sprains were the biggest concern.

"The canyon was carved by the waters of the Snake River, which flows more than one mile (1.6 km) below the canyon's west rim on the Oregon side and 7,400 feet (2,300 m) below the peaks of Idaho's Seven Devils Mountains range to the east. Most of the area is inaccessible by road."

As the codeine filters its way through my bloodstream and begins its task to block my pain receptors I processed this image through Neo and a touch of Snapseed…maybe the meds have interfered with my sense of proportion?

After x-rays they found a sprain ankle. Some meds.

rest, he'll recover. Thank you all for the kindness.

How can such a beautiful place be so stressful?

Slippery stairs, a sprained ankle, and constant mist and water on thousands of dollars of photography equipment, that's how.

Yosemite is on Miwok and Western Sierra land.

Yosemite is the name wrongly given to the region by Anglo explorers. Yosemite means

“those who kill” in the native language. The people of Yosemite called Yosemite Valley Awooni or Owwoni for (gaping) “large mouth”.

The Yosemite people called themselves as Ah-wah-ne-chee, or “dwellers of Ahwahnee.”

I apologise for not getting on flickr very much. I miss everyone. I have a shoulder sprain at the moment which I did at jujitsu training.

For the Macro Mondays challenge "Glass" (September 2nd 2018)

It's a long time since I shot these tiny Swarovski glass cube beads. It's quite a challenge as each bead is only 1cm, and moving them needs to be done with a toothpick! I went a little overboard, as I placed them on a pebble glass sheet, with the window glass behind them and the sun shining through. I think everything in the frame is either glass or light ;o)

The usual size shot is in the first comment field, using a 2"x3" credit card

Happy Glassy Macro Monday!

As mentioned in prior posting about Chinatown in New York City, Chinatown in New York City is the largest Chinatown in the United States and home to the largest population concentration of Chinese in western hemisphere. Still hobbling on my sprained ankle a bit, I made my way to Chinatown, for the 2017 Lunar New Year Parade, the largest of several parades held within the confines of New York City celebrating 18th annual New York City Lunar New Year Parade & Festival in2017, the year of the Rooster. I was fortunate to find a high perch at Sara Roosevelt Park, where the parade ends and the festival is held. The many floats and parade participants feature beautiful bright festive colors, smiles abound, children eagerly awaiting the dancing dragons with their little heads peering out through the barricades. This wonderful colorful 9-jointed dragon in the image I captured here was one of two twins that ran parallel to each other, the second one obscured by this one. A sweet and lovely Chinese observer perched next to me explained that the dragon dance actually traced its origin back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220AD) and the reason this dragon was 9-jointed was because an odd number of joints was considered propitious. You can see the bright almost iridescent red colors are mesmerizing. This year the Chinese New Year fell on January 28, and the New Year or Spring Festival lasts approximately 23 days.

Between a sprained ankle last week and a poorly spaniel today (hopefully OK now), photography hasn't been at the forefront of my mind!

So, here's one from a few days ago. This rusty old bike tends to move every couple of days, but stays on our dog walks.

Yup, on November 4 is Tidda's second adoption anniversary!

I expected one year of trouble as we adjust to each other and heal her traumatized soul, but it took two years.

I'm happy to report that the surgery for her hip dysplasia has been a great success! However, just as Tidda was 85% recovered and starting to trot and run again, she sprained her knee on her OTHER leg! That set her back a bit, but it's only a sprain and slowly getting better. These things can happen. The vet is very happy with her progress. She walked calmly right into the clinic - I used to have to carry her because she would be so terrified.

Tidda has come a long, long way and is eager to enjoy the sweetness of life! :)

Since I don't know her birthday, I consider this her birthday also and that means she is now 7 years old.

Sitting home on a beautiful afternoon resting a sprained ankle, dreaming of pelagics past and a few in the coming weeks. Here's a favorite from one of last year's boats out of Belmar, NJ.

Here's yet another type of robber fly, though this Holocephala abdominalis is tiny compared to Machimus sadyates. Consequently it consumes much smaller prey - in this case it appears to be a bitty bee. Holocephala abdominalis has a habit of perching at the tip-top of a twig or dead stem as it searches for small flying bugs to seize. Notice how the hind tibia is swollen up big at the bottom like a bad ankle sprain and that key feature helps us identify this small species in the field.

Thank you for stopping by. Here is a lavender version of Bee Balm.

I also sprained my foot and it is impossible to do much of anything. :-((

I can't believe its been a few years since I walked down to Flatbed Falls, so on the spur of the amount I packed my camera bag, bear spray included and told my son I was off for a short hike. 'If I don't text you in 4 hours, come with a search party'.

I don't recall any bear sightings along the short hike down to the falls, so it is one of the trails that I'll venture out on alone. The only worrying thing is that it is quite steep and if an old man ever sprained an ankle, it would be a tough walk back up.

I used a variable ND filter, resulting in an exposure of 6 seconds at f16, ISO 100. The color balance looks a little on the cool side, do you think? I used to always correct the color balance too warm I believe and now I don't like the look of those photos. Any opinions on how this looks?

Oh yeah, I made it back safely... obviously. Just an asthma attack from the steep walk back up from the creek bed.

Fence and cattle guard, used to keep the cattle in yet let the vehicles travel on the road. It does the same job as the barbed wire fence. Cattle seem to know better than to try to walk across one of these; humans don't know better and I have seen more than one person get their foot lodged in those cracks. Ending with a major sprain or break.

I sit here in Vik Iceland processing these images of Kvernufoss in the wonder of their beauty, and amazement of my own stupidity in nearly having a major incident. A tale of caution for all of us, who both sometimes forget the dangers in Landscape photography, and who at our age should probably know better than to take risks.

I am here with my son on hopefully for him an inspirational photo tour of Iceland. What worse example then could a responsible dad take, than clambering over slippery rocks behind a powerful waterfall, only to slip and fall and needing your son for a rescue attempt. Enough said. I hope the response to these images justify the sprained toe and tempered pride.

Yarrow, a long-stemmed member of the sunflower family found in the wild throughout the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere … Native American herbal medicine makes extensive use of yarrow. Yup, you're right. I was out on the trails again today, once again ignoring that sprained ankle of mine. I'm such a rebel.

I decided to visit the boardwalk trail today because it's a fairly flat walk on a steady surface instead of my preferred trail at Mer Bleue which is wooded with treacherous roots just waiting to trip people. See, I'm trying.

All week I've been trying to get a panoramic shot, but have failed each day. But today I've redeemed myself and ended up with two that made choosing difficult, so you can find the alternative shot in the comments.

I decided on this one as the main image because one, I came up with a title easily and two, I liked the colours better here.

Anyway, hope everyone has had a good day.
