Dawn near Vlaardingen. A misty scene, featuring my second favourite group of trees in this rural area.

HFF!

A ray of sunlight flutters through the Oak tree canopy lighting up this Silver Washed fritillary butterfly taking nectar from a bramble flower. Luck was definitely on my side for this shot as this species of butterfly are well known for not hanging about in one place for very long. And the breeze that was moving the branches overhead was very intermittent.

i wish i had thought to do this earlier, before the snow started melting. sigh. but hey. proof positive that timing is key. had i been on top of it, i might have (well, maybe) focused it better.

Jumbles Country Park, near Bolton, Greater Manchester

..nothing in particular.. but looked good anyway!

This is another view from Latrigg, showing the outskirts of Keswick, Portinscale and Braithwaite, with Grisedale Pike and Eel Crag forming the backdrop.

This spotted towhee was partially in shade, but its head moved into the sun to get this shot.

Autumn in Melbourne is always beautiful, with many wonderful deciduous trees full of colour like this Japanese Maple, one of my favourites, which I have been visiting regularly on my walks over the last few weeks. This leaf, hanging on its own, really stood out in nature's spotlight - bright and glorious red!

The day I took this photo was a lovely and sunny day with bright blue skies, although there was a crispness in the air. I thought I'd go for a walk and take advantage of the sunny conditions, as rain arrived the day after.

Thank you everyone for your visit, favorites and comments.

A little robin siniging its song. Springtime! What a beautiful, photogenic season...

I just realised, that I didn't publish a black & white photo for quite some time. I will change that now. Besides that, this photo is a nice example for a arithmetic problem for photographers. What is the result when You add really ugly weather to a quite boring landscape ? A really cool shot. The weather up there on mt. Zeller Horn in Baden-Wuerttemberg was in fact horrible on that evening. Besides hard and cold wind it was raining again and again. But suddenly a gap in the cloud was opening on the exact right position and BAM.

These water lilies exist in small bodies of water where light filters in through trees from above - although i enhanced the effect a bit, this is in large part how the light hit this lily.
