Spirituality is like a bird:

If you hold it too closely, it chokes,

And if you hold it too loosely, it escapes.

Ensure Leaving Your Sole Solo Soul’s Sole Mark To See On Seashores Sea To Shining Sea - IMRAN™

Even though we are often never alone - whether through work or relationships, family or friends - there is one thing we alone possess and must travel alone... our incredibly unique path across the oceans of times. Think about it.

Out of the literally infinite combinations of possibilities in the known universe, we are absolutely the only ones to have traveled our individual journey across the space time continuum. No matter who comes into or goes out of our lives.

We are the only ones who can, and who must, choose to be shining stars in the heavens of human greatness — from the decisions we make today, the actions we take, right here, right now. Those choices, every minute, every day, starting this very moment, set the course of our walk through life on this planet’s star-walk through the cosmos.

We bear sole responsibility to ensure we walk on the seashore separating the sands that have already passed through our hourglass, and the limitless oceans of possibility alongside us, leaving us a chance to still carve our own path, craving leaving a meaningful mark, on the sandy beach that still lies awaiting ahead.

Our soul, solo traveler temporarily riding the solar system’s journey through a brief eternity, bears sole responsibility to leave a meaningful mark of soles that can be seen along the seashores, from sea to shining sea.

Come along, my precious fellow-traveller through time and I will guide your path when you need me to. But get ready to explore farther than you imagined.

Dare to bare your soul, my dear. Hold my hand and press your sole into the sand. Leave your mark, everywhere, my beloved, forever,.... But step on it.... for time and tide wait for no man, or woman.

Resurrection Church Savior on the Spilled Blood, Saint Petersburg

Photo taken from a boat across the river Ganga (Ganges) during our boat ride from Dakhineshwar Mandir to Belur Math and Adyapeeth, which are on the other side of the river.

The peaks of snow mountains on bright mornings part the dense clouds and soar into the skies. Beneath the skies like a world submerged, lies a lost kingdom. Ladakh, the roof of the world opened to tourists only in the last decade. At an awesome altitude, this highland is the bridge between the earth and the sky!

Part fantasy, part reality... Ladakh, is where, the forces of nature conspired to render a magical unrealistic landscape... a landscape of extremes... desert and blue waters... burning sun and freezing winds... glaciers and sand dunes... a primeval battleground of the titanic forces which gave birth to the Himalayas.

Ladakh is a region in India totally isolated from the modern world. An authentic land, it is faithful to ancestral customs where life is characterized by intense spirituality. Even an Indian traveler will probably find no similarities in the land and people between the ones he leaves behind and those he encounters in Ladakh. Rich traditions of Mahayana Buddhism still flourish in the purest form in this region, which has often been referred to as Little Tibet.

Most of leaves on trees are gone already.

We're in that dark time of late autumn which causes depression for many people here.

We have just a few hours daylight now and even that is often just twilight.

But every time , even the darkest one has its own beauty and can bring its own gifts.

Hmmm, they both make a sound point.

These are hands weighing 30 kg, the bracelets are all welded carbonised steel, they cannot be removed , and on his feet another 35 kg, also welded, the only buffer on his feet is a cloth bandadge so as not to peel the skin of his feet .

He has aged , his penance in memory of the fourth Shia Imam Zainul Abedin Sayyede Sajjad the surviving son of Hazrat Imam Hussain.Did he really survive Karbala - yes he did.

It was Sham - Damscus where the womanhood of Islam was betrayed, that prematurely killed the fourth Imam from within and without.

He aged his hair turned white overnight , he could do nothing weak , bedridden and await deliverance from the evil deeds of Yazid his captor.

And being the Imam of his time see his sister 3 year old Sakina cry and ultimately die languishing in a cell. Even Zainab the indomitable Sister of Hussain took her strength from her nephew and her Imam.. Sayyade Sajjad.

His penance and his devotion to Allah was what kept him alive.

Now please do not ask me why this Sunni born asectic whom I call Zanjirwale Bawa has taken this penance of walking life with chains, following a Shia Imam?

I was meeting him after Haji Malang pictures I have not posted as yet.

He has stopped wearing his chest armour that weighs another 45 kg, he says it tires him out, he is human and humble enough to tell me this.

We know each other for more than 5 years he was being humiliated at Chancawalli Shrine by one of the important hoodlum type person there , and its a story that saddens me the corosion in mans soul.

The man offered Rs 35 to Zanjirwale Bawa placing the money on his face and told me to take his picture I refused.

Rs 35 is an insult to both the ascetic and the memory of the Fourth Imam.

He had me thrown out of Chancawalli Dargah, this gangster man.

But while leaving the Dargah, I turned back and saw the Bawa limping behind me seeking forgiveness , I put my hand in my pocket and you wont believe it the exact amount of Rs 35 came out of my pocket .

I handed it over to the Bawa.

This is our bond and we meet at crossroads of life.

While I was going to Pune last Sunday I got a call from the Bawa that he was at Abdul Rehman Dargah at Dongri for 3 days. But I could not meet him.

On my return from Pune I completely forgot about him ,and was going to Khar with my wife , I got a call on my phone and he was trying some other persons number but he connected to me.

This time he was staying for a few hours at Shastri Nagar Santa Cruz , the following morning he was leaving for Haji Pir Dargah in Kutch.

He wished if I could see him.

I left my wife to do her work for which she had come and I set out to meet Zanjirwale Bawa towards Santa Cruz which was on my route.

He was on the 6 th floor the lift had broken down so I walked up the steps , and its here that I shot his hands.

On an early morning I found myself on the steps of Jama Masjid mosque at Fatehpur Sikri. This leads to the marble Tomb of Salim Chishti through the Buland Darwaza gate built by 16th-century Mughal emperor Akbar.

I'm auctioning off a signed 16x20 print of this image as shown with black border top and bottom for the Katrina Relief Auction. (I will send a smaller 8x10 if you request. Wall space is limited for some.)

Situated at the top of Singuttara Hill and overlooking the city, this incredibly sacred place has witnessed Myanmar’s dynamic, ever-changing history over the course of an estimated 2,500 years. The Shwedagon has endured severe natural disasters, military occupation, been the site of historic public speeches and protests; and yet, its grandeur exists today to tell each century’s story in the faintest sounds of bells and the loudest patters of bare feet.

Surrounding the towering bell-shaped stupa, referred to as a zedi in Burmese, are 64 smaller stupas and four larger cardinal corner ones. 12 planetary posts representing days of the week and the moon’s ascension also encompass the zedi’s base.

Pilgrims from other countries and throughout Myanmar add to the vibrancy with their traditional clothes and offerings. You will witness moments of prayer, meditation and the ‘bathing of the Buddha’ by day of the week. Labels with the days of the week surround the stupa and dictate the placement of offerings. The Monday corner is reserved for those who were born on a Monday, Tuesday corner for Tuesday, and so on. Washing the Buddha at the corner of your birthday is considered lucky and good for karma.

"The most beautiful emotion we can experience is the mystical. It is the power of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead." -Albert Eintsein

This was a tricky photo to create. There was a green street light right behind the camera that introduced lens flare, an ugly green tint, and hard shadows on the church. I also had moths fly in front and catch the light during the sky exposure. Other exposures had more cloud cover, so I did quite a bit of editing to clean this one up.

Sky: 1 frame at 75 second shutter, ISO 800, f/2.5 LENR, tracked

Foreground: 3 frame HDR merge, 1/2/5 sec shutter, ISO 800, f/2.5, LENR

Post Processing: Capture NX-D for RAW development, ON1 Photo RAW for composition, Capture One for final editing

About a local book-talk that deals with life, death, and the afterlife. Mitch Albom and all that! My favorite parts are the clouds and flames. Big surprise there.
