Greensleeves, 40 grams (1.4 oz) **$40**

Unknown woods, but there are two kinds. I think it is the Anne Boleyn model, which is redwood burl and bloodwood.

whorl: 2"

shaft: 7.5"

Despite it's compact size, this spindle weighs a whopping 2 ounces. I'm loving how this spindle seems to spin forever and ever. On the spindle is grey Shetland, from Spunky Eclectic. Of all the fibers I've tried so far, I think I'm liking Shetland the best. It has a really classic, sturdy feel to it.

As you can see, spindles come in all shapes and sizes. This spindle was sent in for service and repair.

ebony whorl, walnut shaft, 16 g

The wonderful orange fruit bursting from the bright pink cases are one of those colourful Autumn sights I look for.

Plenty to be found this year in Leigh Woods.

...i don't think I was supposed to take photos...

in the photo, it looks like there is a line on the shaft where the wood is darker, but that isn't the case in person. I think it is there because the spindle is thicker there and the light is reflected differently by the wood in that layer of the grain.

I took this photo of what I'll call the spindle for an anchor chain at the Marquette Maritime Museum. You can see the water levels by the different colors there in the background.
