Male Mallard duck giving his feathers a shimmy shake

An older shot in the winter, but so far the only one I've caught a spin cycle like this and how could it other - on my fav place Cascade Gorge in Unesco Biospähre Reserve Rhön / Germany.

Happy Waterfall Wednesday

Walking in front of the Hotel Del in Coronado and I saw all of these spin cycles just waiting for some action. I have to admit, the view might entice me a bit more.

Saturday night at the laundromat in wintertime is a triste affair. I would choose Tuesday, when I think back, for my visits to do this fun chore. It was many years ago and it was time where I would read the 'paper' or even a book between rinse and spin. Of course the price watching the dryer spin around is no longer in cents, but in dollars, but the entertainment is as exciting as EVER.

This one is going to wait for something special. What a beauty.

Strong winds and heavy rain can make a car journey on the Thelwall viaduct seem like being inside a washing machine on a fast wet spin cycle.

Upload frenzy! Four posts at once… that's a lot for me. But it's Cozy Sunday, and there are no rules on Cozy Sunday :) I hope you enjoy these laundromat shots as much as I do.

Spincycle! So lucky to have about a dozen visit our garden.

anyone care to guess what these are? :)

One minute I was happily loading in my socks, then a strange sensation of being kicked, then darkness.

That's when it started getting wet.

...and now I fear the worst... I'd set it to heavy soil. Where's Mrs. Flibble anyway? Surely she...

Oh.

I understand now.

With the kids back to school, Fall is here and with it, comes the fair. Photographing this scene at the midway with a friend, he remarked, "that's just like being in a clothes dryer!"

I returned for yet another pass at the carnival lights and another stretch in the displays building with hail rattling on the tin roof. This carney shot shows two rides in passing over three seconds. That was long enough to manage a full rotation on the spinning cars. I captured several heavy action shots after dark that return evening.

This display caught my eye first and the title was once again obvious. I am in another foray with the nightfall action-blur shots of the colored lights and lovin' it. I worked harder at these action-blur shots at this time. All this stuff is really hit and mostly miss photography. The 70mm report is where I started the zoom. The EXIF is often meaningless.

I am loaded with recent captures in my stash to the point where I am forgetting what I have at this point.

I waited for a totally black sky and was aided by heavy weather obscuring the sunset. This was a fast exposure but there is a lot more slack to impart action at 2-3 seconds. It seems that I can always get interesting results. I shot at f:/22 and slow exposures later in the dark. It is difficult getting three rides running at once but slow exposures overcome that problem. This close ride is centrifugally contained except when the cars nearly hang upside-down. Gravity is really in charge as the cars zip by. I doubt they have the same stresses on the Farris wheel. I look at the results on the monitor and good takes become obvious titles. I expect to delve into these takes over time. Each episode is a learning experience and I extend my list of pointers.

Welcome the FULL PERM mesh font for inworld use, Spin Cycle. Great for store signs, special occasions and great fun to play with writing out things. A myriad of uses!

The font includes 40 characters, letters A-Z, numbers 0-9 and punctuations ?!+ and &. All that is required to retexture is simply dropping your favorite texture in each character or simply recoloring and do away with any textures. The UV and AO are not needed and are not provided.

At their current size the characters are about a 1/2 prim each when linked together, a few of the more complex characters may be more.

Well I reposted this shot for a number of reasons ...

.... first ... I had the pleasure of winning first place in the "Streetscapes" category in the recent Capture Oakville 2009 competition with this image ...

... secondly ... I have been very busy framing a collection of shots from my Night Moves series which will be exhibited at the Williams Coffee Pub at Trafalgar & Dundas here in Oakville, this image makes up one of my approximately 20 framed shots that will be on display at Williams ...

... thirdly ... I have just finished my first publicly available book through Blurb, entitled "Night Moves Volume I" which highlights the images on display during this upcoming exhibit. The link to the book ... www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/963512

Wish me luck folks ! Sorry I haven't been commenting on your work as I have been busy preparing for the exhibit.

On the move .... Night Moves

Picture of a new addition at Camp Champions: the 'SPIN CYCLE'. Basically a circular pool with a strong current. The owner of the Camp (Steve Sir) got the idea while on vacation in Europe a few years back. I believe its the only one of its kind at a Camp in the USA.

The retracting waves create a whirlpool amongst the rock s on Mooloolaba Beach.

This is a 3 shot vertical stitch. Not really sure why I did this, but it works for me.

Time to go and take some new photos shortly, hoping for a road trip out west.

Just got back from the meal, stuffed my face and now my head is weary and in need of rest. That is why this is all i could come up with, i know it's really poor quality and a bad edit and although i'm a perfectionist and really didn't want to upload it, i came to the conclusion it's better to try something and learn from the mistakes in front of you rather than have nothing to look at to improve.

Anyway, glad i got a shot in today at least and now i'm off to bed, most likely to dream about washing machines now.....nighty night! :)

*If anyone has used this idea before, which I have the feeling someone might have, I do not mean to have copied in any way and have tried to make it my own (if it seems that way).
