Spent an hour back at one of my favourite spots -- on Westinghouse Bridge. Was hoping for heavy snow...just got a dusting.
Spent a little time today attempting to get some good hummingbird photos after noticing frequent activity around my feeders but was unable to get photos of the Anna's Hummingbirds off the feeder. First time in a long time that I have seen a male Anna's and a female Black-chinned. Also first time this year I have seen a recently fledged American Goldfinch. This youngster was begging it's heart out but none of the adult birds volunteered to feed it as if to say "hey kid, get your own food."

Spent another wonderful day down on the Bellarine Peninsula with the Famous Flickr Five+ Group today, the weather was perfect. Thanks for a wonderful day :))

I spent a very cold but bright day at Garons Park Golf Club with my camera instead of my clubs.
I spent most of the time in the woodland areas mainly to capture a Green Woodpecker which I was fortunate to do.
The Blue Tit, Wren and Robin were a very welcome bonus the light and clarity was the best it has been for a while.
I spent a few hours with a group of Flame Robins at Mt Donna Buang. They appeared to be quite used to people as they were hanging around the carpark and allowed me to get quite close.
This is (you guessed it) the male. As usual quite showy and not afraid to be front and centre of the attention.
It's conservation status is Near Threatened which means its Population is decreasing.
We spent yesterday visiting Yellowstone in Wyoming, and of course, there were many many new photo opportunities to be found. After taking advantage and shooting dozens of photos, one will often walk away with a small handful of personal favorites, and this was one of mine from yesterday. We will be returning home on this coming Thursday after spending the better part of 15 days with old friends and seeing some beautiful vistas in the northwest. I'm sure I will leave here with one thousand plus photos, and I hope you will not tire of me sharing them with you.
all day I spent with my photo camera in the saddle in a strong piercing wind. But along with patches of sunlight in the late afternoon comes hope..
the lower we go down the slopes of the mountains on the way into the valley, the more often we meet Kazakhs and herds of cattle - yaks (sarlyks), and camels, horses, sheeps

I spent an hour at Monrepos this morning to meet the squirrels. They were happy to see me as there was no food in the feeders and my nuts and sunflower seed were very welcome. The squirrels were very entertaining but it wasn't the best morning for taking photos as it was foggy and rather dark. The cuteness of the squirrels will have to make up for the lacking quality of the photos. :)
I spent a great deal of my time here in the winters with my sleigh and toboggan, using the so-called 'hills'. When I was a teenager, I was hired to maintain their plastic plants (!) for the summers.

Spent the night freezing cold just to catch the sunrise from the top of the Preseli mountains in Pembrokeshire.
I spent a couple days in northern Minnesota and was fortunate to see some northern lights.
I was kind of surprised I wasn't able to see the colors with my eye until I checked the display on my camera.
Per Wiki...Auroras are the result of disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by solar wind. These disturbances are sometimes strong enough to alter the trajectories of charged particles in both solar wind and magnetospheric plasma. These particles, mainly electrons and protons, precipitate into the upper atmosphere (thermosphere/exosphere).
The resulting ionization and excitation of atmospheric constituents emit light of varying color and complexity. The form of the aurora, occurring within bands around both polar regions, is also dependent on the amount of acceleration imparted to the precipitating particles. Precipitating protons generally produce optical emissions as incident hydrogen atoms after gaining electrons from the atmosphere. Proton auroras are usually observed at lower latitudes.
We spent a few days on Benewah Lake, Idaho over our holiday. I was intrigued by this trestle, and the railroad tracks which run through a tunnel on the other side of the lake.
They say the train runs once a week at unpredictable times. A few locals fish from the trestle and I've heard if the train comes, you simply 'hang' off the side until it has passed. Umm sure... sign me up.
Have a nice rest of the week. I hope to catch up with all of you in the next few days.
Spent a few hours walking around Tohono Chul Park. Lots more people there today and a lot fewer birds. This phainopepla was in a tree in the parking lot over our truck.
Honey spent a couple of weeks with this little one before we had her. Shadow is not quite a chihuahua and not quite a dachshund
This past Sunday they met up again and it was like they'd never been apart, Chaos ensued.
Spent a very nice evening at Ninepipe, in Charlo, Montana, watching the sun go down as it played off the tall grass and the Mission Mountains in the background.
Spent part of my Sunday walking through the wonderful beech forest at Ekedalen. This shot is made by 4 portrait photos stitched together to get a wider shot and to make sure at least parts of the tree tops are visible. It was my first visit there, but for sure not the last...
I spent an enjoyable evening in Leeds with a great group of people from a facebook photography group I'm a member of. We stayed around the area next to the canal side behind Bridgwater Place and took some photos. Here are some of mine.
I wish I'd known you could go up to the Skylounge in the Hilton building next to us; one of the things I really want to do is take a shot of Leeds (or any city) from a high vantage point, especially after dark!
Spent the day up around the Pittsburgh area on Friday with the focus on the other AVR. A pair of SD60M's spliced by a former SD45 is crossing the Monongahela River on the former B&O mainline to Wheeling and will be switch a customer and going back into Glenwood Yard.
I spent the entire time taking this photo... Worried she was going to trip down those stairs...

A friend of mine needed a replacement profile picture after I took hers awhile ago. Since then she's got a new look, so it made sense to need a new photo!
I wanted to try and keep it a little more minimalist with this one. Her old one was a lot more edited. Overall, I like how it came out and I think the color palette is good!

I spent quite a while weeding through my contacts I never hear from this morning. I started with around 250. I think I'm around 200 now. I just made my mind up that if contacts arent at least occasionally making comments in my stream poof they are gone. Away/busy etc only go so far with me when they have time to post their own stuff. OK Rant over.

Spent some SL time with my RL bestie Miss Blazin Aubret. Love her to the moon and back!

Spent some time in DC for work this week and had just a few free moments in the early morning and explored along the river for some not so normal DC monument captures.
I spent a lovely few of hours with a new friend at Lanyon Quoit (ancient buial chamber) on Saturday night. Our goal was to photograph the rising moon between the legs of the quoit, but this proved to be more difficult than it had seemed as there was a lot of cloud cover. Instead, I did some startrails looking north with the stones lit by the moon.
Spent quite a few days just enjoying the dippers. Hopefully now travel has been eased up I can get out to other ares soon.
I spent 30 minutes with this sweet bird the other night, watching it scurry about on the beach and feed on the wave-washed shore.
I believe it is a Dunlin, one of many Sandpipers species that are currently migrating northward. The light was very low and I was lucky that the handheld 1/15th shutter speed got it passably sharp.
They look like monster waves crashing against the shore here, but don't be fooled-- it's all perspective, and that's how it appears when your belly is laying on the beach and one-foot waves are producing a little froth :)

Spent today with Aaliyah at Westhay. Lots of birds to see, I think we counted 38 different species though the course of the day including the drive in and out. Good views of a couple of bitterns, kingfishers and marsh harriers at North hide and a Bearded reedling on Daggs lane drove.
I have spent some time up in the hills this year and enjoyed it immensely. I managed to grab a shot of this Skylark when it flew over to me whilst I was having a sandwich. It was calling softly, with a beak full of Leather Jackets (Crane Fly larvae) looking to find and feed it’s fledglings hiding in the heather. Skylarks will not fly straight in to the nest or to their young. They land a few metres away and walk through the cover to avoid giving away the location to predators.
Thank you for having a look at my photos. Comments or faves are very welcome and much appreciated.
I spent a few days recently traveling to and hanging out with the Ospreys.
Now, these Ospreys are big, powerful, and graceful. Many of them have gotten used to people…but not too much. They prefer to coexist, from some distance; often giving real dirty looks if you break into their personal space.
This series of Ospreys come from two places. Lake Toho in Kissimmee, Florida; about 6 miles from my house, and Merritt Island, about an hours drive.
Hope you enjoy them even a smidge as much as I have shooting them. There will be some shots with prey. Sorry in advance for any shots that may be too graphic. Ospreys diet consists of 99% fish, and I can handle seeing a fish much better than “other” types of prey.
We spent the morning at Lion Habitat Ranch, in Henderson Nevada, hanging out and photographing the lions. I hadn't been there in a while, and it was a nice time.

I spent a couple of days just going around to little lakes in Northern Vilas County Wisconsin with their shorelines ablaze with the colors of the tamaracks. Being in a canoe the view was breathtaking to say the least. My wife Marshia took these pictures to show the beauty of this lake as I saw it from the canoe. It was like canoeing in Paradise.

I spent three days with the Ptarmigan in the north. The morning temperature was -34C/-29F (-41C to -47C / -42F to -53F windchill).
Je me suis offert en cadeau un petit voyage plus au nord pour photographier ces magnifiques oiseaux. J'ai été surpris par leur grand nombre. Mis à part des températures extrêmement froides, mes attentes ont été comblées.

Spent the weekend in Seljord, Norway. Felt like we where in Colorado or Alaska or something. Beautiful weekend at a beautiful place. Felt very different from other parts of Norway.
Spent a good hour looking for a ladies keys to no avail but we were treated to a lovely sky and she had the most gorgeous Weimaraner.
Spent another great day on a photographic day inside the enclosures at British Wildlife Centre near Lingfield... another really great day with Meg hosting us as the keeper for the day, and what a great time we had

Spent way, way, way too much time playing with splashes this morning. I really want to revisit this again soon, this was taken for the CreativeLive photography challenge that is going on right now. If you want to participate, go to CreativeLive.com, blog.creativelive.com/creative-photography-ideas-challeng.... I thought it might be fun to try some of these techniques, probably not all of them but a few to mix it up and learn something new.
Also, I probably overprocessed it but I really liked the dramatic look so I went with it.
Spent the day at Floyd Lamb Park on the North-West side of Las Vegas. This is a great place to photograph wildlife on the several small ponds in the park.

I spent last weekend with a couple of old high school buddies aboard the 37 foot Rubicon. We sailed from Newport to Block Island on Friday, biked around the island Saturday and sailed back Sunday. Beverages were consumed and great memories were made :)

I spent a few days in Largo Portugal visiting my daughter & family while away the last month.
I had been to the Algarve of Portugal 15 years ago and wasn't really into birding back then so it was really nice to experience the Algarve through a new set of eyes.
White Storks are plentiful - - many of the local villages had nests along the river sides and on many abandoned buildings.
I only went photographing for 1.5 hours on the 1 morning - - but I saw plenty of birds
