The theme for today's Macro Monday is "sticker" and here's an example why we don't really like them: they age far too soon.
This shop sign was in the first 'real' build for Joe's Cars, a 24 stud wide car shop in Lego city. Wouldn't want to use that piece today.
The car in the background is from last year's Speed Champions series, a Nascar Chevrolet Camaro. Some stickers are visible in this picture, the total count on the car is 25 - now imagine how this will look in five years time...
Toy Project Day 3567
Didn't I complain in January about the lack of new Speed Champions sets? I was wrong, and here's the new McLaren Elva in the early morning sun on the wet road.
I have no idea where that Black Friday nonsense came from - about five years ago, it was completely unknown in Germany, now there are Black Weeks in every little shop. Found this on sale in my local drugstore (Rossmann) down the street.

This is the comparison between my MOC and Speed Champions official set model. I omitted floor under mini-fig legs and allowed them to touch to the ground.
I'm not 100% happy with that solution but still better for me.
(If you would like to add floor, it is possible, however mini-fig comes to little bit higher position which was what I didn't prefer)
The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is a mid-engine sportscar produced by the Italian automotive manufacturer Lamborghini. In keeping with Lamborghini tradition, the Aventador is named after a Spanish fighting bull that fought in Zaragoza, Aragón, in 1993. The Aventador is the successor for the Murciélago and was made by hand in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy.

Toy Project Day 1925
Made another round of modifications to the LP700-4, further shortened the bonnet/nose area, and reduced the gaps around the headlights.
Modded the rear end a little too, and with the new speed champions vehicle base it's now able to fit 2 minifigs.

It is done! I barely can believe it myself, after 5 years on flickr I can post my very first completed build.
So happy with how this build turned out, managed to jam in all the details I aimed to.
This is mostly same as my 2005 Ford GT, smoothed out the surface on top of the front mudguards, used the new SC vehicle base and new SC windscreen, so now it fits 2 minifigs.
Rear is now almost the same as Lego SC's 6w GT40. Too bad there were some medium azure parts that I couldn't buy yet, wanted to build one with Gulf livery.

The modern classic G body 911 3.2 Carrera remains one of my absolute favorite automotive designs. I've built several takes on the 911 before as you may have noticed, so what's different this time? I've adjusted the overall proportions for more of a city scale build (1 plate shorter in height, I stud shorter in length) and included the iconic early 80's impact bumpers.
I had hoped to find a slot car tire that would serve this design properly but my compromise was to stretch a 9mm slick over 11mm wheels and then stretch an 11m low profile tire over the slick. The proportions work nicely but it would be ideal to have a meaty sidewall tire that is just a little smaller in overall diameter than the standard city tire.
I hope you enjoy!

After warming up with some alternate builds, this 8-wide McLaren F1 is the first MOC on my channel.Last year I built it in 6 wide and now I felt the urge to remake it in a more detailed, 8 stud wide version. I used the windscreen and a lot of other bricks from the LEGO 76895 Ferrari F8 Tributo Speed Champions set.

Oddly enough it was actually named 961 in the 1986 & 1987 24 Hours of Le Mans, and they ran the Rothmans livery in 1987. Not their most successful car, but still one of the best looking classic Porsches.
Always wanted to build the 959, but the headlights were too challenging for me, had to rely on those new parts that were recently introduced.

Because it's inspired by the official set, I need to say something that I've missed before.
I'm rarely blown by design solutions in the official sets, but for once, this little car featured a detail that it's pure brilliance.
It's the license number plate, apparently a minor detail – and not because it's a license number plate, but because it resolves with elegance beyond words one major problem in this scale: the grille. Maybe those who followed my comments remember that I've complained a couple of times about the window piece being too tall and ruining the proportions. Well, the combination of window piece with the small bracket is a stroke of absolute genius in my opinion, as it makes the grille feel shorter, paradoxically by adding a piece.
Hats off to whoever came up with this brilliant detail!
I wanted to make an old custom truck car hauler based on 1948 COE, my model isn't a replica of any particular truck, I searched some and then I make this one based on several different trucks I saw.
it's 9wide'sh and can fit any Speed Champions 8 wild car.
the cabin was a huge challenge, to many angles in such a small space, yes it is fragile, but it wasn't built to be played.
This is my last "car" I will close shop for a while and focus on other projects.
I would like to give a special thanks to The Lego Car Blog and The Brothers Brick who feature some of my models (like the Rat Rod on this truck) It was a great Ego boost to keep challenging myself to be a better Lego builder.
Thank you once again!

The Ferrari F40 (tipo F120) is a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car engineered by Nicola Materazzi with styling by Pininfarina. It was built from 1987 to 1992, with the LM and GTE race car versions continuing production until 1994 and 1996 respectively. As the successor to the 288 GTO (also engineered by Materazzi), it was designed to celebrate Ferrari's 40th anniversary and was the last Ferrari automobile personally approved by Enzo Ferrari. At the time it was Ferrari's fastest, most powerful, and most expensive car for sale.

From my personal marquee comes the Road Car variant of the GZ01 Le Mans racer. Built in Speed Champions/City scale.
Built this back in 2019, it's time to fit the new vehicle base so that it can fit 2 minifigs, also added new windscreen and tweaked the rear to give a better proportion and eliminate some gaps.

I'm trying to remember if I've enjoyed a $32 set this much before. Just look at this thing woodja!? I absolutely love it. I admit I haven't really paid much attention to speed Champions before now and bam! TLG drops this thing and the Contach at the same time.
Bittersweet build, glad to have built it but there are still some obvious flaws.
The front end was tough, for the nose I could have replaced the 1x1 red cheese slope in the middle with a 1x1 black tile, but I chose to keep the slope so the nose protrudes a little. And the studded wedge plates for the bonnet made the nose/front a little too high. It was hard to find any compromise.

My first try on an MOC in SC scale. It's not an alternative and i really proud that it turned out so well. The model has opening trunk and hood with engine detail and some place in trunk to store minifig utensils. Right now i'm also working on the instruction for the build. It will be soon avialable at my yt channel for FREE. So stay tuned and don't forget to sub and click notification bell so youtube will remind you when the instruction will be posted!
Tried but failed to build the stock 458 because the air intakes were too difficult to get right, so ended with something that resembles the Vorsteiner after-market bodykits.
A pity that the front end is a little fragile, and that the 36841 bracket doesn't exist in red yet otherwise I'd have built a GT3 version.
