3801 a living steam legend.
Just the very mention of 3801 is enough to send shivers through the spine of any hardened train buff.
3801 was conceived in the Clyde Engineering stables and was the first of what would be the first of 30 on the 38 class locomotives designed and built to haul express trains.
It was not until a major overhaul in 1963 that 3801 underwent a change of livery to the now famous green colour.
The locomotive was primarily used by railway heritage groups for use on special services, an example of which was the now famous non-stop run from Sydney to Newcastle on 28 June 1964.
In 2007 3801 was officially withdrawn from service and in the passage of time the old steam locomotive found a new home at the NSW Rail Museum located at Thirlmere.

Due to engineering works, there is no service on the Docklands Light Railway between West Ham and Woolwich this weekend. As part compensation, extra buses are running between North Greenwich and Woolwich on route 161. Fleet number 278 is one of those and looks like it is equipped with the number but not the destination. Most of the extras I saw were double deckers accurately showing Woolwich. It does not look like these extras have a schedule entered into the iBus system - LVF thinks this bus is resting today.
This Transbus Pointer bodied Dart SLF is normally works a variety of single deck routes from Orpington Garage, but not the 161.

Volvo B5TL/ADL Enviro 400MMC number 662 was captured arriving at Edinburgh Park Station on special service 97 in connection with the Royal Highland Show at Ingliston, Edinburgh. For the four day event, Lothian provide Service 97 running every 15 minutes between Edinburgh Park Station, Edinburgh Gateway Station and the RHS Showground. 662 is seen here on Lochside Court about to turn left onto the turning circle at Edinburgh Park Station where the route terminates. Using this service enables rail passengers from the west and north to avoid the busier central Edinburgh stations. Lothian also operate the frequent 98 service to the Showground from the city centre at George Street.

Fleet number 608 was captured at Edinburgh Park Station (north side) working the special service 97 to the Royal Highland Show. This route connects Edinburgh Park and Edinburgh Gateway stations to the Royal Highland Centre at half hourly intervals.

First held in 2017, but considerably expanded since then, Terminal V is a bi-annual underground electronic music festival held at the Royal Highland Centre at Ingliston, next to Edinburgh Airport. If a two day event featuring techno and house music legends and exciting new acts is your thing, then this could be the bus for you - direct to the door. Fleet number 1117 was seen outside the Assembly Rooms with the first departure on the first day of the event.

Route 227 (Special Service) : Bromley North, Station - Penge, Crooked Billet

Class 378154 is seen leaving London Bridge on 2K63 to West Croydon. Had to reupload this as for some reason, Flickr corrupted the original photo.
Route 36X runs for the Notting Hill Carnival for two days each year. It uses the normal route 36 route as far as Vauxhall and then is fast to Harrow Road, Prince of Wales. The first buses start from New Cross at about midday (12:50 on the Monday) until about 18:00 (19:10 on the Monday.) In the other direction they run from 15:17 until 22:46 on the Sunday, and from 15:07 until 00:10 on the Monday.
The route runs from New Cross Garage, like the 36, and it is likely to be the last year it runs using PVL class Volvo B7TL's - they are allocated, on the whole, to route 321 and these will soon be replaced with Volvo B9TL's with Wright Eclipse Gemini bodywork.
PVL353, seen here at Hyde Park Corner, looks so overloaded it's about to scrape the front of the bus on the ground. I hope it made it!

Short Strand based Metro Volvo B5 / Wrightbus '2124' leads a procession totalling 30 buses arriving into Fairyhouse Racecourse not long after dawn on a horrendous morning.
Translink were under contract to TFI [Transport For Ireland] to provide 55 double decks to assist with the expected movement of up to 500,000 pilgrims to the Papal Mass in Dublins Phoenix Park.
Months had gone into the planning, with the Translink contribution being 55 double decks. As planned they departed Belfast shortly after midnight on Saturday 25th August and travelled to Weston Aerodrome. The plan was then to operate a shuttle from Weston directly into the Phoenix Park for the volunteers, this shuttle commencing at 04.00 on Sunday August 26th, it was contracted to be complete by 7am, all buses to have vacated the park by 7am. The focus then shifted to Fairyhouse Racecourse to operate a public shuttle to the nearby M3 Parkway station
