Latimer Reef Light, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, is a sparkplug lighthouse on Latimer's Reef in Fishers Island Sound. The lighthouse is located one mile northwest of East Point on Fisher's Island, Suffolk County, NY. Originally called Latemore's Reef after James Latemore. Latimer Reef Light was completed in 1884. It sits in 18 feet of water at the western end offshore of Fisher's Island Sound. The light includes a 30-foot-diameter (9.1 m) cylindrical caisson foundation painted brown. The caisson is filled with concrete and surrounded by riprap. This foundation supports a 46 foot cast iron superstructure that includes a four-story conical tower topped by a one-story cylindrical watch room and decagonal lantern. The tower, watch room and lantern are painted white with a brown stripe a full story tall around the tower's third story. In 2008, the U S Secretary of the Interior identified Latimer Reef Light Station as surplus and required it to be maintained in accordance with the Secretary of Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.
I own a Suzuki V-Strom 650. It has about 9,000 miles on it in two years of riding. I thought I'd change the plugs. I look in the manual...I read instructions btw...and found that I could get Denso plugs or NKG. I took the book with me to the autoparts store and said I need either of these two plugs. They had the NKG's in stock. I brought them home and promptly forgot to install them for a couple of months.
So, today I pull the fairings off and take the gas tank off. I find the right shocket and pull the easiest plug. I get the feeler gauges out and see what the old plug had grown to and what the new one was set to....then I notice that the Denso plug is fine threaded and the NKG is course! NUT and BOLTS!
I resort to the Suzuki manual again and look at the part number and the box the plug came out of. It is the same. I look at the plug and see that it is the wrong plug...funny but the other plug is also the wrong one.
I sometimes wonder why I do things like this. I should just bendover and take it...to the Suzuki dealer and let them screw....the plugs in...to the bike...

Pictures of the West Bank Light from on board the Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas at the beginning of our week-long cruise. The West Bank Light is a sparkplug lighthouse that dates from 1901 and is in the Lower New York Bay. It serves as the front range light with the Staten Island Lighthouse serving as the rear range. This guided ships into the Ambrose Channel. I was able to see a number of lighthouses in New York Harbor this trip. On board the Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas for the Seven Night Labadee & Puerto Plata Cruise (November 6th through 13th, 2022). The cruise embarks from Cape Liberty (Bayonne, NJ) with stops at Labadee, Haiti and Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic before heading back to New York City. The itinerary changed after Hurricane Nicole canceled our planned stops.

SR20 in a '99 G20t. Engine needs a new valve cover gasket because oil is going down into the sparkplug tube on cylinder 2.
Yours truly applying the second coat to the baseboard. The girl was really the sparkplug on this, left to my own devices I am sure I would never have gotten around to it, and four years down the road be selling the place with sample paint chips still taped to the wall.

Broken bottle just says 'SODA WATER' at the top. The word HAMMONTON is at the bottom. Not visible 'cause I plopped that rusty dish there. On the left is a Bromo Seltzer bottle. All Bromos that I've dug up read 'BROMO SELTZER' along the bottom of the bottle. This one is inscribed on the front. Possibly older, before they switched to a paper label. On the right, is just a plain old little bottle with a spark plug in it.
Orient Point (The Coffee Pot) Light is a sparkplug lighthouse in active use as an aid to navigation off Orient Point, New York. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. In June 2011, the General Services Administration made the Orient Point Light available at no cost to public organizations willing to preserve them. It can be found off Orient Point at the end of Oyster Point Reef on the western side of Plum Gut. It throws a flashing a white light every five seconds; its tower is 24 feet tall, 21 feet wide at base, 18 feet wide at top, brick lined, of cast iron plate construction and painted brown on top and white on bottom. At the top of the tower (below the lantern) is a watch deck; the foundation is a concrete-filled cast iron caisson 32 feet tall with a 25 foot diameter. 1899: Constructed; First Keeper, Ole N. A. Anderson; 1954: Automated; 1970: Coast Guard announced that the light will be extinguished and demolished; 1973, Work began to restore the light; 1978: Light was upgraded to compensate for the extinguishing of the Plum Island light; 1999: The light celebrated its 100th birthday.
