It doesn't matter how much love you give them, how much you pay for their high quality dog food or how poor you get to make sure they stay cool in the summer and cosy warm in the winter…

Once in a while you will get this ' look' and you start wondering what you did that made their lives so miserable.

It had to be done today and luckily she didn't mind at all. She loved running and searching for the kibble that I threw for her to be found.

I'll miss her and the others since I will be flying to Europe to visit my parents.

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas en I hope to return in time to do week 52.

But it will be close.

She is up for adoption through www.greyhoundsinnood.nl

I had the luck to have her here for a night.

Tienes derecho a vivir.

.

When curled up like this she reminds me of a cat.

We will be busy tomorrow with an auction that will last only one day.

It is hosted by the Little White Monsters blog and is to help out the adoption group that takes in the greyhounds from the Ebro track in Florida which very recently had to deal with a horrible cruelty case in which 30 to 40 greyhounds died. Greyhounds as Pets Emerald Coast takes in all greyhounds from that track that have no use as racers anymore and finds them loving homes as pets. Without donations from the public this wouldn't be possible. Add to that the medical care for victims of the cruelty case than you understand the need for donations.

The auction has some fun items for dog lovers and the Little White Monster is glad to help.

Thrown away by her owner in Spain after the hunting season she now lives with us in the US

A colorful one for a change.

I am trying to find out how to work with my flash a bit more recently and sometimes it works out.

Cara is very patient while I try this since there is a lot going on in the garden these days.

We have several ghosts, but also all those leafs blowing around and squirrels, so many.

So she is always in for an extra stroll when the weather is as nice as today

My two galgos Cara and Lehto, both rescues from Spain.

Caught during a play session.

These two are pretty close to each other even though she didn't even want to look at him when he arrived 1.5 years ago.

One of their many talents.

Not quite as I want it to be.

Capt Bob (Barbosa) checking out the Halloween hat he will be wearing this Thursday. Arrgghh.

once we have the yard fenced in. She has been running from window to window for more than 30 minutes now.

Because…there are bunnies out there!

Still with the kodak.

Every little white monster (I mean Spanish princess) needs her own sunbeam

Made it to explore.

Life is a bit hectic at the moment. First of all, my parents are over from Europe for a two week visit and i am trying to do as many trips with them as I can. And the day they leave, I will get on the plane myself to Spain, to work in a galgo rescue center for a week and hopefully take many pictures.

It does mean taking the weekly picture is very hard these weeks and although I made it this week and hopefully next week, I will for sure miss out on the week after.

But it is all for a good cause, so I hope Cara will forgive me the lack of extra attention.

Today we took 3 of our dogs out to Pinchot Park here in Pennsylvania. Fall colors are almost at their peak here and the weather was too good not to pack a few dogs into the car and enjoy the weather and colors.

I know the dogs did, even with all the mud.

She is starting to grow up.

13 months old now.

She's still a silly one though.

Somehow I think they got mixed up in Spain. No way this boy is one of those elegant, sophisticated looking galgo's.

I think they replaced his ears with antenna's to spy on us, or maybe his dad was a deer? And it looks like there is some giraffe mixed in also.

Really, those ears crack me up, hope they never turn 'normal'

She's a year old now and we took Sami to a coursing event for the first time.

She loved it.

You wouldn't believe she is actually cat safe if you see her reaction to an outside cat.

She was standing on the couch for at least 15 minutes, intensively staring at the cat that was sunning itself on the other side of the street.

Took this picture when I visited the PAWS shelter in Spain.

This wonderfull boy later was adopted through Greyhounds in Nood Nederland.

or, my newly adopted galgogirl

By now she knows, mom grabs a handful of kibble and walks up the stairs and

she makes sure she is on top of the stairs before I am, because that is when she gets the first piece.

Since she was traumatized when she came to us, I never really took the time to do a training with her.

She would totally freak out, no idea what I was asking from her. But that has changed the last few months. Probably because she sees me doing the doggydance thing with my other Spanish girl.

Lately she learned to spin, which she does really fast, since there is food involved.

She also is more confident when we do pictures, or maybe I have just learned not to over ask her.

Now, if only I could learn her not to lie down right away but stay in a sit when I pick up the camera…

Have been trying to get some studio like pictures lately. Our hallway upstairs functions as studio, a dark blue sheet hanging between two doors is the background, another one covers the papasan which is placed in front of an open bathroom door .

And as long as this little monster has a soft place to lie in or on, she's happy.

I do want to stay,

Baby it's hot outside......

F 94 degrees (34 degrees Celsius) is too much, even for a little Monster born in Spain.
