Quantum foam or spacetime foam is the fluctuation of spacetime on very small scales due to quantum mechanics. The idea was devised by John Wheeler in 1955. With an incomplete theory of quantum gravity, it is impossible to be certain what spacetime would look like at small scales. However, there is no reason that spacetime needs to be fundamentally smooth. It is possible that instead, in a quantum theory of gravity, spacetime would consist of many small, ever-changing regions in which space and time are not definite, but fluctuate in a foam-like manner.
Wheeler suggested that the Heisenberg uncertainty principle might imply that over sufficiently small distances and sufficiently brief intervals of time, the "very geometry of spacetime fluctuates". These fluctuations could be large enough to cause significant departures from the smooth spacetime seen at macroscopic scales, giving spacetime a "foamy" character.

The radial projection effect evokes movement through space at relativistic speeds, where photons appear to converge towards a central point, illustrating the concept of trajectory and propagation of light. Light travels at approximately 300,000 km per second in a vacuum.
This is the maximum possible speed in the Universe. Everything we observe in the sky stars, nebulae, galaxies always reaches us with a time delay.
In astrophotography, capturing light is also capturing a story:
the story of radiation that has traveled, sometimes for years, even thousands of years, before reaching our sensors.

In-camera (wobbly) double exposure, just for fun.
I had to do errands in the city that day and took my camera with me, but no ND filter. Trying to get a longer exposure time, I went to our new-ish underground. But I didn't remember that the tube stations are rather brightly lit, so there went my long exposure. I think the second image was about 1/4 seconds and the first one 1/40.
I had a rather crazy week so far and thus thought this photo might be fitting. Luckily, the weekend is approaching : ))
P.S.: My activity feed seems to be broken. It shows only images of one person I follow right now. I will try it again tomorrow

This photo was taken in the nave at Lichfield Cathedral in Staffordshire, England. It was created by taking 9 shots with a fisheye lens and stitching them together to form a spherical panorama that covers the entire 360˚ view, from floor to ceiling. The tripod is removed by taking two 'straight down' shots from slightly different positions, using a dedicated spherical panoramic head that can offset the camera position away from the central axis of the tripod (although the floor of the panorama isn't included in this composition). Each frame was taken with 5 exposures to capture the full dynamic range from the bright windows to the dark corners (so 45 shots in total). The spherical panorama was transformed to the 2D rectangle you see here using transverse Mercator projection. This version is cropped for composition so it doesn't include the full 360˚ - it spans 160˚ horizontally and 180˚ vertically.
Dedicated to St Chad and Saint Mary, this magnificent gothic cathedral was built between 1195 and 1340. It's the only medieval English cathedral with three spires. Its internal length is 113 m (371 ft), and the breadth of the nave, pictured here, is 21 m (69 ft). The central spire is 77 m (253 ft) high and the western spires are about 58 m (190 ft).
The sandstone used in its construction came from a quarry on the south side of Lichfield. The walls of the nave lean outwards slightly, due to the weight of stone used in the ceiling vaulting; some 200–300 tons of which was removed during renovation work to prevent the walls leaning further.
Lichfield suffered severe damage during the English Civil War of 1642–1651, in which all of the stained glass was destroyed. In spite of this, the windows of the Lady Chapel contain some of the finest medieval Flemish painted glass in existence. Dating from the 1530s, it came from the Abbey of Herkenrode in Belgium, in 1801, having been purchased by Brooke Boothby when that abbey was dissolved during the Napoleonic Wars.
In February 2003, an eighth-century sculpted panel of the Archangel Gabriel was discovered under the nave of the cathedral. The 600mm tall panel is carved from limestone, and originally was part of a stone chest, which is thought to have contained the relics of St Chad. The panel was broken into three parts but was still otherwise intact and had traces of red pigment from the period. The pigments on the Lichfield Angel correspond closely to those of the Lichfield Gospels which have been dated to around 730AD. The Angel was first unveiled to the public in 2006, when visitor numbers to the cathedral trebled. After being taken to Birmingham for eighteen months for examination, it is now exhibited in the cathedral.

Proof of the Nonlocality of a Light Cone’s Surface:
Consider a pair of entangled photons which travel in opposite directions from the origin in the x1, x2 plane.
No matter how far apart they travel, they will remain entangled, meaning that their two positions will define a nonlocality.
Now consider numerous entangled pairs of photons, wherein the two photons in each pair travel away from the origin in opposite directions.
Together, the positions of the photons in all the entangled pairs of photons will by and by define a circle of nonlocality as the number of pairs of photons approaches infinity.
Now consider a third axis which is time. Together, the positions of the photons in all the entangled pairs of photons will define a conical surface of nonlocality.
Ergo, the surface of a light cone is a nonlocality.
The surface of a light cone is thus nonlocal.

Insignificant On Cosmic Scale But Godly In Uniqueness In Space-Time Continuum, First Sunset New Year New Decade New Era - IMRAN™
(My 97th Photo In Explore!)
What a joy to be able to live into another new year, another new decade, and, hopefully, a new era. I captured this beautiful first sunset of 2021 on Tampa Bay Florida at my blessed home in Apollo Beach.
It is an HDR image intended to capture the vivid vivacious vitality of this time in history.
In the grand scheme of things, it makes you think. Quite frankly, the moment is meaningless when seen on a cosmic scale — which is the backdrop of our time here on earth as humans, or as a species on a planet, or even as a planet in peril from its own inhabitants while it does its rounds around a fairly insignificant star called the sun. Even on a human scale it is a “non-event” — just a click that may not even register in the literally billions of photos that will have been taken between New Year’s Eve and the first night of 2021.
But here and now, the moment and the experience of this instant, it is a godly event — an absolutely unique spot, sight, and moment — in all of the infinite space-time continuum! Imagine that. I bow my head in gratitude to the Almighty, and in thanks to all of you for the love you gave, give, and will give me. Forever.

Florence central station (Santa Maria Novella). As I explained in the first upload in this series, the architects of this station (Gruppo Toscano) had the shrinking of space-time, due to the modern railway system, in mind. If we could travel by almost the speed of light, such shrinking would also involve significant shrinking of time--time goes much faster: a 'time warp'. The phenomenon is symbolized in this shot: the figure walks from a (stupendously preserved!) 1930's modernist environment straight into a contemporary commercialized space.
