An interesting concept that occurred to me. Space Invader + Octopus = total world domination?

These are a rough peek at two of the four broadsides produced by my first student resident, Natalie Azzopardi. The images are composed from hand-set metal type ornaments and wood type. She's had a lot of fun!

Space invader mosaic graffiti.
Jasmine spotted these wherever we went in Paris. Perhaps our relative heights means she is more likely to spot things up high (she tends to be looking up), where I would have certainly spotted any space invader sidewalk mosaics. (there weren't any)

After many years without a doormat, I finally decided to join my neighbors and placed one in front of my door.
I almost went with a Barcode, or City Manhole Cover doormat but decided to ape my neighbor who has a small rubber brush doormat.
In its generic state, the doormat looks pretty boring. Fortunately the rubber pellets look like a grid of pixels and after some thought I decided on cutting some Space Invaders aliens into it.
Consideration was also given to Pac-Man and a Super Mario scene (that would have been painted on).
This Super Mario Goomba (http://kotaku.com/gaming/top/the-goomba-doormat-195322.php) mat is pretty sweet though, perhaps I should have gone for a Goomba or a Koopa Turtle. Next time...
