It was a surprise to see this owl out in the daylight - it's characteristic call is usually heard at night.

Southern Boobook Owl (Ninox boobook), Tondoon Botanic Gardens, Gladstone, Australia.

A welcome garden visitor! Thanks to my mum's great detective work, which led to us finding this Southern Boobook roosting in her garden, I was able to sneak under the owl and snap a few photos. We were lucky enough to have this beautiful creature stay for several weeks, and learn about its diet through pellet analysis.

A family of Southern Boobook Owls, taken in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia.

Road kill. Blowhard.

This owl was sitting in the tree outside our back door. Not very clear as we only had a normal torch handy, but I was pleased to get a shot of it at all
