7 sept 2019 >> NIEUWE FILMERS FESTIVAL – Verkadefabriek Den Bosch – feestelijke première avond van de negen korte films gemaakt tijdens het One Week Film Project 2019 met Q&A met de filmmakers. Na het voorlezen van het juryrapport volgde de spetterende prijsuitreiking van de film award Het Paradepaardje 2019 mét de geldprijs t.w.v. 2750,- door de vakjury aan de winnende regisseur en team! Het prijzengeld bestaat uit de Hermes Kunst & Cultuurfondsprijs t.w.v. 500 euro, de BudgetCamera waardecoupon t.w.v. 750 euro én 1500,- vanuit SOLOS Nieuwe Filmers gefinancierd uit het budget van de Van den Udenhout- Chappin Cultuurprijs. Het prijzengeld moet binnen 1 jaar door de winnaar / het winnende team worden besteed aan de realisatie van een nieuwe film [fictie, docu,animatie]! Nieuwe
Filmers biedt hen in de opstart een filmproducent als coach.
De korte films zijn gemaakt tijdens het One Week Film Project 2019. Teams van een nieuwe generatie jonge filmmakers maakten in 5 dagen tijd ieder een nieuwe korte film in elk denkbaar genre!
Het publiek kiest de winnaar van de Publieksprijs. Ook reikte de jury negen categorieprijzen uit voor Beste regie, Beste scenario, Beste Acteur m/v, Beste Sounddesign, Beste Camera DOP (director of photography), Beste Editing, Beste Production Design en Beste Muziek! Afsluitend was er een ‘afterparty’ en meet en greet met de filmmakers in de foyer van de Verkadefabriek.

Part of CINECITY 2016, The Sound of Story presented a three-day programme of stimulating talks, masterclasses and workshops featuring a stellar line-up of world-class sound professionals.
Taking part were Ann Kroeber (Blue Velvet, Dead Poets Society), Catherine Hodgson (Atonement, Jane Eyre), Jo Jackson (Long Walk to Freedom, Suffragette), Judi Lee-Headman AMPS (Homeland, The Bible), Paul Davies (Hunger, The Queen, ’71, We Need to Talk About Kevin), Neil Cargill and Simon James (Akiha Den Den), Matthew Herbert (Life in a Day, Bodily Functions, One Pig), and Mike Brett (Notes on Blindness).

In order to create the road borders we developped a specific algorithm which can read all the data from the mesh.
The data are sorted for find which vertices are on the right or the left of the road. Then we find the angle of each bend and sort them from tight bend to normal bend. We also sorted the data in order to find the direction of the bend.
The screenshot shows a little tricky mindy problem found on #Unity. When we import an FBX model (from #Maya or #Max) and read the vertices data using C#, it seems the index of the vertices are sorted (on the z axis) only when the UV has not been unfold. If the UV is unfolded, all the data are disorganized.
I took this stock footage clip which had no audio and created the sound design for it. For the song in the background, I sampled Linger by The Cranberries and edited the equalisation and played around with some other effects which created a radio-like sound to the song. For the straw slurping and tv static audios, I used sound effects which I found on youtube and added them together with the clip.

Zaterdag 8 september vond de vijfde editie van het Nieuwe Filmers Film Festival plaats in de grote zaal van de Verkadefabriek in Den Bosch. Publiek en filmers werden feestelijk ontvangen met bubbels op de rode loper in de Verkadefabriek, partner van Nieuwe Filmers, onderdeel van SOLOS.
Een avondvullend feestelijk programma met premières van vijf korte films gemaakt voor het ONE WEEK FILM project 2018 en interviews met de makers door host Coen Haver. Na het voorlezen van het juryrapport volgde een spetterende uitreiking van de film award Het Paradepaardje 2018 met € 1.250 prijzengeld aan de regisseur van de winnende film! Ook reikte de jury prijzen uit in de categorieën; Beste regie, Beste scenario, Best Acteur m/v, Beste Sounddesign, Beste Camera DOP, Beste Editing & Beste Production Design! Het publiek bepaalde de winnaar van de Publieksprijs. Afsluitend was er een ‘afterparty’ met DJ Losse Veter.
Het publiek maakt tijdens deze filmavond kennis met zowel het inspirerende filmwerk alsook met de gedreven filmmakers zelf; de jonge regisseurs, scenarioschrijvers, acteurs e.a.
De vijf korte films die in première gaan zijn gemaakt tijdens het One Week Filmproject van 13 t/m 17 augustus. Vijf teams van een nieuwe generatie jonge filmmakers maakten in één week tijd ieder een nieuwe korte film van maximaal 10 minuten, van script tot eind montage en in elk denkbaar genre! Met hun film dingen de teams mee naar de prijzen die uitgereikt wordt door een professionele filmvakjury met Ilona van Heeckeren filmprogrammeur o.a. Verkadefabriek, Marina Wijn casting director,castte acteurs voor 80 speelfilms en series o.a. voor de Emmy Award winnende film ‘Anything Goes’ [2015]. Bob Wilbers regisseur van oa. ‘De ludwigs’, ‘Celblok H’, ‘Sluipschutters’ en ‘Dokter Tinus.

‘Opgegroeid in chaos, ontsnapt Emmy uiteindelijk uit het huis dat haar duister aan deed. Verloren in de nieuwheid van het onbekende leven ontdekt ze wie zij vertrouwen kan en dat, ondanks dat Emmy nooit meer terug keert naar huis, ze niet voorkomen kan dat ze nooit meer terugkeert naar het verleden.’

We have implemented a flocking behaviour for the Birds which the user can see in the second univers.
We used the flocking system Boids developped by Craig Reynolds in 1986. We have studied some others implementations like the one from Daniel Schiffman on #Processing or the one from Robert Hodgins on #Cinder, then we try to create our own version using C#.
We also add others behaviors like a focus behavior and obstacle avoidance. Each agent can only focus on a limited number of neighbors. If the agent had reach its max of neighbors he ignores others agents which could enter in its field of view.

Script performance and is one of my favourite courses from the first term. I learned how to get comfortable on the mic, so I could be my best once I go on-air in the near future. I enjoyed the practice work that Dennis gives us because I was able to explore my tone to match the different feel of various scripts.
In April, I will get the chance to utilize what I've learned so far in the program, and hopefully, I'll be able to quickly adapt myself once I'm on-air upstairs in Evolution 107-9. Practicum, I'm looking forward to you.
