Another shot from the most recent shoot with Stevie. I guess this time round, I became incredibly impressed with the depth, the caring and the silences in Stevie's soul. Way more than just the bubbly party girl I first met many years ago, this time I was introduced to a wonderful woman with a lot to say, a lot to feel and a lot to left unsaid.

Black Swan in her elements and elegance

Inner peace

A place of peace where you feel at ease

No need to resist or even persist

No have-to or must-do

To be or not to be,

for me no question.

My suggestion:

To do or not to do,

it is all up to you…

I may and I say,

I am what I am.

The spirit in me,

a soul being free.

No need for insurance or any endurance.

Not feeling needy, not being greedy.

Feeling secure, being pure.

No pain or weep, shallow or deep,

in the darkness of night and the brightness of light,

going along, feeling so strong.

You can begin by looking within.

Without pressure, find your treasure.

Jewels divine, make them shine.

When you wear it, you will share it.

As a decoration, for appreciation.

To be satisfied is happiness being magnified.

Being at ease feeling spiritual peace,

Has no beginning or end, just feeling content.

Has no shape or color to see, it’s been, is and will be.

Being there, allover, everywhere, definitely, infinity.

I made this set as a retrospective reflection on one of the deepest crises of my life. This life trauma was also the trigger for my fresh exploration of the medium of photography--as a means of mental renewal, and diversion from other stresses, Thus, to my great surprise out of deep pain, has emerged great joy.

This entire set of six works

(including also www.flickr.com/photos/walford/1996747914/ www.flickr.com/photos/walford/1996714426/ and www.flickr.com/photos/walford/1984734473/

[the first in the series]) is therefore dedicated to Dr. Stephen Pierson and Dr. John K. Larson, so instrumental in my recovery, and to Dr. Kozuh, without whose intervention, my wife, a cancer survivor, perhaps would no longer be with us. To these fine men, I remain ever grateful--beyond what words--or image--can say. And, needless to say, beyond their human intervention, I am even more grateful to God, for placing these fine men in my path, and for his ever-present love, mercy, and grace, as mediated through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.- Oscar Wilde

We all wear masks. Some of us to hide the reality.

Some of us wear to show it.

We put it on, we go out, put our best foot forward, our best image. But behind that mask is a personal truth, what we really, really believe about who we are and what we're capable of.

For 27-year-old Ben (Josh Lawson), life couldn’t be better. A well paid job, friends, parties, girls and nothing to tie him down. But when he is invited back to his old school to join several other ex-students including Alex (Rachael Taylor) and Jim (Ed Kavalee) in talking about their personal achievements, something goes wrong. Ben is the only speaker not to be asked a question by the school kids. This triggers a year of soulsearching and looking for answers in all the wrong places.

From his best friend Andy (Christian Clark) whose solution is that they both take another holiday, to his mentor Sam (Lachy Hulme) who loans him a sports car in the belief that there’s nothing like excessive speed to resolve emotional turmoil. Not even Ben’s father (Rob Carlton) or friends Nick (Daniel Henshall) and Em (Felicity Ward) can offer much in the way of meaningful guidance.

Of course, it’s not easy seeking enlightenment in nightclubs, or on the ski fields of New Zealand, and when you start dating a Russian tennis star things can get really complicated. As the poster boy for a generation desperate to tick every box, Ben begins to suspect that the meaning of life may well reside in the things he's already doing - and a girl he used to know.

I have looked in every wonder of world.

I have searched in every bit of joy and pain.

But I couldn't find You.

My eyes fooled me, dazzled by the glittering materials.

So lame I am....a lifetime passed by, yet You remained obscure.

The beach is not the place to work; to read, write, or think. I should have remembered that from other years. Too warm, too damp, too soft for any real mental discipline or sharp flights of spirit. One never learns. Hopefully, one carries down that faded straw bag, lumpy with books, clean paper, long over-due unanswered letters, freshly sharpened pencils, lists, and good intentions. The books remain unread, the pencils break their points, and the pads rest smooth and unblemished as the cloudless sky. No reading, no writing, no thoughts even – at least, not at first.

At first, the tired body takes over completely. As on shipboard, one descends into a deck-chair apathy. One is forced against one’s mind, against all tidy resolutions, back into the primeval rhythms of the sea-shore. Rollers on the beach, wind in the pines, the slow flapping of herons across sand dunes, drown out the hectic rhythms of city and suburb, time tables and schedules. One falls under their spell, relaxes, stretches out prone. One becomes, in fact, like the element on which one lies, flattened by the sea; bare, open, empty as the beach, erased by today’s tides of all yesterday’s scribblings.

And then, some morning in the second week, the mind wakes, comes to life again. Not in a city sense – no—but beach-wise. It begins to drift, to play, to turn over in gentle careless rolls like those lazy waves on the beach. One never knows what chance treasures these easy unconscious rollers may toss up, on the smooth white sand of the conscious mind; what perfectly rounded stone, what rare shell from the ocean floor. Perhaps a channeled whelk, a moon shell, or even an argonaut.

But it must not be sought for or – heaven forbid! – dug for. No, no dredging of the sea-bottom here. That would defeat one’s purpose. The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. To dig for treasures shows not only impatience and greed, but lack of faith. Patience, patience, patience, is what the sea teaches. Patience and faith. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach – waiting for a gift from the sea.

Gifts From the Sea ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Any Questions for Ben? Premiere In Sydney, Australia

The Sydney premiere of the rom com Any Questions For Ben? enjoyed its premiere in Sydney, Australia tonight.

The weather was wet, but the atmosphere was warm.

With a big name and ultra talented cast, this movie is set to do extremely well in a tough market.

St George Open Air Cinema was the venue for the premiere showing, and actress Rachael Taylor did the honours, coming back to Australia especially for the promos.

Stars: Josh Lawson, Rachael Taylor, Daniel Henshall, Felicity Ward, Christian Clark, Jodi Gordon

Director: Rob Sitch

Distributor: Roadshow Films

Cinema Release: 9 Feb 2012
