Life Bird.

Holdener Park, Livermore California

I like the effect on the background here. Don't know exactly how this happened as I have another shot on the same branch without this ray of light effect. 2PM is not an optimal hour for warblers. I usually use that time to explore and search for good locations. The exception is the in forest area where light seem to be more diffuse. It is possible to shoot in those locations almost all day.

Taken at Edmonds marsh--sparrow is on barbed wire next to the board walk and the background is a yellow search and rescue motor life boat. One of my favorite locations to shoot!

1 -Phainoptila melanoxantha, capulinero negro y amarillo, Black-and-yellow Silky-flycatcher

2-Ptilogonys cinereus, capulinero gris, Gray Silky-flycatcher

3 -Ptilogonys caudatus, capulinero de cola larga, Long-tailed Silky-flycatcher

4- Phainopepla nitens, capulinero negro, Phainopepla

Female

I only saw one Nashville Warbler at Magee Marsh and of my two trips there I only saw it this year. When you're on a bird you've never seen before the thrill is intense and trying to get that perfect shot quite stressful. But I was quite happy to see this photo turn up in my Lightroom queue and I'm pleased to post it to Flickr! Even better, the warbler has caught some food in the form of a green winged insect in its beak!!
