Winter.

An unusual set of conditions on the Mersey gave unusual results...a heavy mist blanketed the river and the whole of Liverpool...but the sun was shining behind me as I stood at Eastham, which is directly across the river from John Lennon airport. So, the ships stand out against a misty background.

Yesterday's storm saw seven vessels in Weymouth Bay. usually there is just one or two. Although the ship trackers show there was still a steady flow up and down the English Channel, I reckon at least a couple made a run for shelter if they didn't have to keep to a strict timetable.

Songa Jade, a chemical / oil tanker registered in the Marshall Islands, rolls at anchor with waves over her sides. Meanwhile Norderney makes headway into the lee of the Isle of Portland. She is a general cargo vessel currently under the flag of Antigua & Barbuda.
