A cloudy sunrise at Lough Ennell in the midlands of Ireland

This greater yellowlegs was wading in the small pond at Commonwealth, and was very vocal.

" Make me feel something, something

Make me feel something, something

Show me that I'm human, oh

Make me feel something, something "

This song is so good !

Your yellow cab 🚕 is waiting for you !

An American Kestrel poses nicely in the snow. It appears to be looking for something. A Vole maybe?

Down a dark hallway stands a silent figure mysteriously cloaked in the haze daring only the adventurous to venture on. A trip to Silent Hill presents the visitor with a dark and ominous landscape where fear fills the air as thick as the mist at every turn.

Something to make you laugh

When we first started getting into wildlife photography (and still struggling to tell the difference between a chicken and an Eagle) we noticed this 'brownish' bird occasionally exploding from the long grass., then flying off at high speed

Urmm.. was that a small raptor!?

Well no., it's actually a Skylark! durrr! well you have to learn these things!

Think this is a bass that bit off too much.

Did you know that like other jays, the "Steller's Jay" has numerous and variable vocalizations? They are also known as mimics, because of their ability to mimic vocalizations of many species of birds and other animals, as well as non animal sounds. They will imitate calls from birds of prey causing other birds to seek cover and flee feeding areas.

The Steller Jay is the provincial bird of the Canadian province of British Columbia.

The Steller's Jay occurs in most of the forested areas of western North America as far east as the eastern foothills of the Rocky Mountains from southern Alaska in the north to northern Nicaragua completely replacing the blue jay prevalent on the rest of the continent in those areas.

“Never say that you can't do something, or that something seems impossible, or that something can't be done, no matter how discouraging or harrowing it may be; human beings are limited only by what we allow ourselves to be limited by: our own minds. We are each the masters of our own reality; when we become self-aware to this: absolutely anything in the world is possible.

Master yourself, and become king of the world around you. Let no odds, chastisement, exile, doubt, fear, or ANY mental virii prevent you from accomplishing your dreams. Never be a victim of life; be it's conqueror.”

Took this a little further down the road, near Mount Shasta and Weed California.

When I saw this, I knew I had to capture it - the challenge was the wind. I stayed here no less than 15 minutes waiting and trying. Once I have something in my head, I can't let it go.....

Something is going wrong when the camera with its impressive algorithms and countless AF options forces itself into the centre and, hence, between photographer and object. Ideally, I would think, we photographers ought to use the camera as if it was not there. Just focussing on the composition and the 'essence' of the object and having the settings run in the background. I am not advocating 'point and shoot', I am saying that a camera should be built in such a way that we can 'forget' about it and focus on taking the picture. I think my older cameras do that. My newer ones are much more sophisticated and what they are increasingly trying to do is take over decisions I could make myself. What is my reaction? Number one, I prefer using my older cameras. And two, when using my sophisticated ones, I turn off a lot of their computer-powered procedures. I wonder what you think.

Miang Kham. A snack dish of ginger, red and green chillies, coconut, lemons, red onions, dried shrimps, peanuts and a syrup sauce is presented with a typical Thai attention to detail. Absolutely delicious and much a better healthy snack than any crisps.
