The track from Midenley Bridge over the Westport/Hambridge Canal towards the now derelict Midenley lock. A favourite haunt of Herons and Swans. This whole area is frequently flooded in the winter.
Early one morning on the Somerset Levels - A rhyne (Somerset), rhine/rhyne (Gloucestershire), or reen (South Wales) (all pronounced /ˈriːn/ "reen"; from Old English ryne or Welsh rhewyn or rhewin "ditch") is a drainage ditch, or canal, used to turn areas of wetland at around sea level into useful pasture. This area will not be accessible today due to flooding.
