I came across this lovely song, so I guess a little romantic mood is perfect to start my May. 🌹

I have this really cheep lens. I mean it never cost much. It looks cheep. Someone said it is sharp and it gives pleasant results and I gave it a try.

"For someone beautiful" - Eastern Osprey - No 4 of a series of 10

This little piece of Eastern Osprey digital art was made with love for a very special and beautiful person and fellow bird lover, currently battling illness.

Another wonderful evening spent at Ditching Common with the goslings.

High Street, Southend, Essex

Upper East Side, Central Park - Jun 2008 - 085

These pictures were taken on two successive days when I had doctor appointments on the Upper East Side of NYC, and had the chance to walk along Fifth Avenue, and then through Central Park in order to return to my apartment on the Upper West Side, at Broadway & 96th

I had spotted this woman jogging in Central Park a little earlier -- how could you not notice someone in a bright pink top and pink hat? She had been running south, while I was walking north, and she went by too quickly for me to get a picture.

But about ten minutes later, as I was approaching Columbus Avenue and 96th Street, she jogged past me again ... she had to stop at Columbus Avenue, because of the traffic, so she was actually jogging in place when I took this picture...

Note: on Sep 26, 2012, I replaced the original version of this photo with a slightly edited one. All I did was some relatively minor adjusting of "hot spots" and "cold spots" -- but unfortunately, I was unable to remove all the monochromatic blackness in the woman's tights Unfortunately, the original photo was shot as a JPG image, before I learned about the benefits of shooting in RAW and making more subtle adjustments with my Aperture photo-editing program...

You know how the time flies, only yesterday was the time of our lives.

We were born and raised in a summer haze, bound by the surprise of our glory days.

Someone was asking about the rebuilt 2621 and someone else mentioned that it went in as the 2565.

I am working on a series of painted old Mac's ... if you are a fan of Apple machinery you know who those two blokes in the image are -- if you don't you probably won't care anyway.

There are a few more models to come.

ps: I am still looking for a apple monitor from around 1991 -- if someone in Melbourne has one standing around catching dust I would love to take it in my trusty hands and say thanks with a little piece of art.

Monochromatic version of this image, just because I like the results so much.

7 Days of Shooting/Week #5/On The Move/Contrast Thursday

South Bridge Road, Singapore

...with a Swimming Pool!

I am wondering if someone will took this bear home, some day. I will be checking as I live nearby.

It looks pretty sad on the front of this gift shop. Lonely, big teddy bear. A symbol of childhood.

For kids, just another toy on the closet. For adults, a bunch of memories from the past.

Kids, nowadays, got so many toys to play that it's impossible to stay with a particular one for a longer time, like I remember from my childhood.

Having less, means more.

The same with cameras and lenses...I will be doing a big sale soon ;)

Someone has been here before me :)

This is Carwin Jones. Carwin's eighteen years old. Instead of preparing to play football at college, Carwin's working on an oil rig this summer. He's been charged with attempted murder for his role in a schoolyard fight in Jena, Louisiana, last December. The fight, in which six black students allegedly attacked a white student, followed months of escalating racial tension stemming from nooses that white students hung from a "whites-only" tree at school.

In late June, his friend Mychal Bell was found guilty (by an all-white jury) of aggravated second-degree battery, and conspiracy to commit the same. Like the remaining four boys (one of whom, Theo Shaw, was unable to post bail and has been in jail awaiting trial since December) Carwin is waiting to hear when his trial will begin.

Carwin told me in a brief interview that he'd been looking forward to attending college on a football scholarship. He's spending the summer working on an oil rig.

As an update on the case, I strongly suggest setting your own Google alert for "Jena". MLK Jr. and Sharpton were in Jena recently, and Mychal Bell finally has a strong legal team working for him.

Newsweek did a piece last week, and once again, friends of justice seems to be the best place to read updates.

As an aside, someone broke into my car last week and stole one thing; the voice recorder on which I had an interview with Carwin Jones.

My Jena pictures have been published from Atlanta to Philly, Israel and beyond. The YouTube vid I put together has attracted more attention than any picture I've ever posted anywhere. Two weekends ago, I was interviewed about alternative media and citizen journalism for a station in Baton Rouge on a show called "Community Defender" with Louis and Adrian from the Nation of Islam. They had Amy Goodman on last week, and have dedicated their show to discussing the issues surrounding the case.

What I was most struck by were the calls from radio listeners who had family members serving sentences in Angola for "fighting". Inequity and injustice isn't confined to Jena, it seems.

I'm glad I could play a small part in getting the ball rolling (at least in the blogosphere) to help educate people about the case. It was exciting to see Democracy Now step in with their coverage, and big media is finally paying attention. More soon, as Bell's court date in September draws near.
