Despite all the capabilities we have, there are things we cannot overcome. Dreams come true, if you want it - this is the world of adults. What about the children? How is in their world? Perhaps, we - older, much more mature people - build the walls which block children with their dreams and desires...
Is there any solution? I hope so...

Back in the old days before the pandemic – in 2017, 2018 and 2019 - I visited the Italian Emilia Romagna, the cities of Modena & Maranello and thus fulfilled a childhood dream: visiting Ferrari (OK, Pagani, Lamborghini & Maserati, too…).
Seeing some of the rarest, history-charged Ferraris parading through the small streets of Modena, gathering on Piazza Roma and paying tribute to the brand‘s 70th anniversary gave you goosebumps and tears of joy.
With emotions still running hot, I had to do a rendition of probably the most iconic classic in Ferrari’s history: the 250 GTO. Certainly, I first did it in red… but seeing this bold blue-yellow painted beauty at the Museum Enzo Ferrari I had to rebuild it.
The model had its‘ debut at the local LEGO-exhibition „Hildesheimer Steinwelten“ in March 2019, together with other not yet posted models. It is a pity, but there is very limited time for LEGO at the moment.
Anyway, when Lennart Cort ( www.flickr.com/photos/49277037@N06/50676489066/in/faves-4... ) showed his beautiful model of a red 250 GTO, I had to shift stuff and took some time for some rather cra**y photos of mine… and it is interesting how history repeats: in May this year weh ad the Maserati MC12, now the 250 GTO. So let us say it again:
We think it is simply amazing to see the same car interpreted by two different builders: spot the different solutions, find the same design concepts - that's clever!

First time I’ve had any issue with either Nikon camera...all shots taken yesterday, including this, have a strong blue cast which when opened shows “colour temperature” away to the left at 2200 and “tint” at -3. I can change from “As Shot” to another setting to get something close to normal but highlights are still wildly overexposed meaning no detail at all in white areas. This is as good as I can get from a dozen images tried...my solution, get my D7000 and set the D610 as its older sibling is set and hope for the best.

Central Java R-trip Episode 02 - Lawang Sewu
Lawang Sewu ("Thousand Doors") is a landmark in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia, built as the headquarters of the Dutch East Indies Railway Company. The colonial era building is famous as a haunted house, though the Semarang city government has attempted to rebrand it.
Lawang Sewu was designed by Cosman Citroen, from the firm of J.F. Klinkhamer and B.J. Quendag. It was designed in New Indies Style, an academically-accepted term for Dutch Rationalism in the Indies. Similar with Dutch Rationalism, the style is the result of the attempt to develop new solutions to integrate traditional precedents (classicism) with new technological possibilities. It can be described as a transitional style between Traditionalists and the Modernists, and was strongly influenced by the design of Berlage.
Construction began in 1904 with A building, which was completed in 1907. The rest of the complex was finished in 1919. It was initially used by the Nederlandsch-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij, the first railway company in the Dutch East Indies.
After the Japanese invaded Indonesia in 1942, the Japanese army took over Lawang Sewu. The basement of B building was turned into a prison, with several executions taking place there. When Semarang was retaken by the Dutch in the battle of Semarang in October 1945, the Dutch forces used the tunnel leading into A building to sneak into the city. A battle ensued, with numerous Indonesian fighters dying.Five employees working there were also killed.
After the war, the Indonesian army took over the complex. It was later returned to the national railway company. In 1992 it was declared a Cultural Property of Indonesia.

Creative solutions for life's struggles are more likely to emerge from an approach that implies there are no mistakes, only experiments that work to one degree or another which help us to feel free to take risks and try new ventures.

The first thing to say is that each electronic sensor has a protective filter over it, so we are not actually touching the electronics. That would be a disaster. Most people send the camera off for a service and a clean and that's a very good idea. After all this is an expensive investment and we want to make sure our camera works as well as possible for as long as it can.
But, it is quite easy to clean your sensor at home. All you need is a kit (like the one I've shown). This includes sealed sterile swabs and a little cleaning fluid (they are essential - do not try to clean your sensor with a cloth where you can scratch the dust into the sensor filter). There are also many videos on YouTube showing you how to use these dust cleaning swabs, but provided you get the right size for your camera (mine is full frame) a simple swipe will suffice.
For a DSLR you obviously need to lock your mirror up before the clean, and then lower it immediately afterwards. Then with the other side of the swab give your mirror a quick wipe as well. Do not apply too much pressure. After all, these are only tiny dust particles - you should not have any dirt.
My Leica D-Lux 7 which I used to take these pictures has a fixed lens, so it will never need its micro-four-thirds sensor cleaned.

Successor to the low-height Bridgemaster, the AEC Renown was possibly a case of the right product at the wrong time. By the time that it was launched in 1962, there were better solutions to the perenial low-bridge problem. Demonstrator 7552 MX was finished in Bradford City Transport livery and initialled trialled by that operator, which did not follow-up with a purchase order. It subsequently spent time with a variety of operators, large and small. before finding a permanent home with Burwell & District (24-Feb-16).
This is a digitally-colour version of an official AEC photograph from the collection of Jim Neale, but I have dropped in a new back scene because of the format of the original print (24-Feb-14)

Chapter IV - "THE SOLUTION"
The individual tried to rise "himself", fell again, but still, "he" fights against the hypothesis of an end. "He" closes his eyes to that hypothesis, does not want to see that end, tries to fight against it, but "his" deep depressive state torments "him", forces "him", taking "him" to believe that the end is only one, making "him" encountering with it countless times. Like that, "he" stays just a few steps from the end.

After the conquest of Britain under Emperor Claudius, the Romans founded the city of "Isca Dumnoniorum" on the site where a Celtic settlement already existed. Numerous sections of the Roman city wall have survived to this day.
In the 7th century, the city fell to Wessex. An Anglo-Saxon monastery was built here around 680. In 876, the Danes attacked Exeter and occupied it briefly, but Alfred the Great was able to drive them out a year later and had the Roman city wall repaired. In 893, Alfred was able to hold the city against a Danish attack for a second time.
In 1001, the Danes again failed to take control of Exeter. However, after the town came into the possession of Emma of Normandy in 1002 through her marriage to Æthelred the Unready as part of her dowry, Emma's steward allowed the Danes under Sven Forkbeard to enter Exeter and sack the city the following year.
In 1050 the seat of the bishopric, formed in 1032 from the bishoprics of Cornwall and Crediton, was transferred to Exeter and Leofric became the first bishop of the bishopric of Exeter.
In 1068 the town was besieged by Norman troops of William the Conqueror, to whom it had refused to swear allegiance, and surrendered after 18 days. The Norman ruler had the fortress of Rougemont built here. However, the Bishop of Exeter also acted as a landowner and feudal lord, as mentioned in the Domesday Book.
In the early stages of the civil war that broke out after the death of Henry I, Baldwin de Redvers held Exeter for three months in 1136 against King Stephen, but then surrendered. Henry II granted Exeter its first charter.
In the 13th century, Exeter developed into the most important city in the southwest of England. It exported tin and cloth, among other things. From 1295 onwards, it sent representatives to the English Parliament.
Exeter had to survive several more sieges, for example in 1467 during the Wars of the Roses, in 1497 by the pretender to the throne Perkin Warbeck and in 1549 by insurgents from Cornwall and Devon who rebelled against the religious reforms of Edward VI, while Exeter remained loyal to the king.
During the English Civil War (1642-1649), Exeter was initially on the side of the supporters of Parliament, but was conquered by the Royalists in 1643 and held for King Charles I for almost three years.
Construction of the cathedral began in 1112 in the Norman/Romanesque style. The outer walls of the nave and the two colossal square towers, which now serve as the transept, are still preserved from this building. The architect of the Romanesque predecessor had resorted to this unusual solution because the crossing towers, which had previously been built according to English tradition, had collapsed.
The new Gothic building began in 1224. The Lady Chapel, a single-nave building with three bays, marked the beginning. Around 1280/90, the retrochoir and the nave followed in the dimensions of the Romanesque church. At about the same time (1270/1280), the chapter house was added to the south transept.
The choir stalls were made in the 1870s by Sir Gilbert Scott. More than 40 medieval misericords from the mid 13th century were integrated.
This misericord is one of the medieval examples.
This is the oldest known depiction of an elephant in Britain - and it is anatomically quite accurate.
Only three elephants were seen in Europe between 800 and 1300.
1. ‘Abul Abbas’ (+810), owned by Charlemagne, a gift from Harun al-Rashid.
2. The ‘Cremona Elephant’ owned by Frederik II in 1229, a gift from Al-Kamil al-Malik.
3.The elephant that Louis IX (Saint Louis) brought to France on his return from the sixth crusade in 1255 and gave to Henry III. This elephant died in London in 1258.
The artist who created this misericord must have seen Henry III's elephant in London or at least had some kind of drawing of it.

Awesome news. Some of the photos from this set were recently featured on Explore Chicago 's facebook and twitter pages and Gapers Block Rearview. Check out the complete set here:
Here is a Breviary of footnotes regarding the photograph. They include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. The figures as holograms
Like Duchamp's "Nude Descending a Staircase No.2.", I wanted to create a ‘moving picture.’ To photograph a moment is to freeze it in time. In this photograph, I used a simple in-camera setting, multiple-exposure, to create an illusion of movement, thereby providing an opportunity for the figures to transcend a multi-dimensional space. Not a single figure is in the same spot at a given moment in time. Each is a hologram, an evocation of shades upon an illusory space. To be or not to be is no longer the question. It is the solution.
2. The figures ascending a sacred space
In his review article for the New York Times, Nicolai Ouroussoff likened the entry hall of the Modern Wing as a contemporary version of a cathedral because of its long and towering space, illuminated with white light. Of the main staircase to the galleries, he said that some may feel as if they're ascending to a 'sacred space.' The whole series was shot in a span of half an hour. And while shooting, I saw the window curtains raised and lowered a few times. The light, as it filtered through the white cantilevered blades, competed for my attention. My camera was focused on the movement, but the flickering light demanded to be on the center stage. Initially, I had wanted to title the series "The Light Cathedral."
3. The figures as avenging angels
Lee Alexander McQueen died on February 11th. When I shot this series on February 27th, I was still in a state of shock. His tweets leading up to his suicide haunted me. The Autumn/Winter 2010 shows had just started in NYC. Next up was London, then Milan and finally, Paris where his show was going to be held. Tweet by tweet, he had begun dropping hints as to what his new collection was going to look like. Previously, his S/S “Lady Gaga Armadillo" collection caused a tsunami of accolades. So, expectations were high. The inspirations for his new designs, he described, were "hell's angels and prolific demons”, “avenging (warrior) angels", "Dante" (see Dante's Inferno, Purgatorio, Paradiso), "Bosch", (Marquis) de Sade, “Memling”, etc. In my view, the figures in my photographs are the avenging angels who have travelled through nine circles of hell in order to escort him to his next life.
4. The figures made buoyant by two opposing forces: Gravitas and Entropy
The rendering of the photographs echoes the style of Abstract Expressionism movement, but its spirit resides in the Roman/Greek Classical tradition, fiercely and ferociously (See Ara Pacis Augustae; trans. Altar of Augustan Peace). Two opposing forces are at work in this tableau: Entropy uplifts but Gravitas, seems to hold and weigh down each figure, keeping them on track for their appointed destination.
5. The figures conceived by Mr. Eggleston
When I took these photographs, I was one of the lucky few queuing up William Eggleston's (b. 1939) autograph in the main hall of the Modern Wing/Art Institute. An exhibition of his work called "Democratic Camera" was underway. He had actually arrived on time, but before he could sit down, he asked one of his assistants to bum off a cigarette from one the fans. The idea to take these photos came about as I was waiting for him to come back to the main hall. I was on the first floor, with the main staircase hovering over me. The first shots, done as single exposures, weren’t interesting. And then I began to experiment and play with light and movement. This is how “Waiting for Mr. Eggleston/Figures Ascending and Descending a Staircase” was born.
