I took and edited this photo for the Creative Challenge group of which I'm a member - the theme for May is 'Purple' I had a couple of ideas that I wanted to explore - one of which was a Purple sunset. So I set off up to Ipstones Edge a couple of weeks ago and got a few different shots at sunset. They didn't all work in Purple actually but I felt this had something special so decided this would be my submission.
Ipstones Edge is on the outskirts of the village where I live in the Staffordshire Moorlands, a wild and rugged moorland landscape. The sunset this evening was nicely dramatic there had been heavy rain and then the clouds broke up just before sundown and I took this looking through one of the many dry stones walls that criss cross the landscape.
I chose the title because I thought it was such a majestic sunset and Purple being a royal colour it seemed to make sense to combine Royal with Sunset and the Latin translation added a sense of mystery befitting the castle like silhouette set in the wild moorland scene like a scene from a legend of old!
