A grain mill was erected in 1860 on the site of the present Museum Küppersmühle by industrialist Wilhelm Vedder, one of the founding fathers of Duisburg’s Inner Harbour. The mill closed down in 1972.
The conversion of the grain mill into the Küppersmühle Museum was completed in 1999.

More often than not the power would be grungy CP GE's but every so often us Michigan railfans would be thrown a bone.
