Happy Truck Thursday!

One of the earlier lighthouses to be built by Robert Stevenson and first lit in 1817.
When the lighthouse was automated in 1994 and the keepers houses were sold off and converted into a hotel.

There is a "corn man" who sets up shop on a local street corner. He, supposedly, sells "the best corn ever!" I've had it once (it's quite expensive) and I honestly can't tell the difference from any other corn I've ever had. He sells daily until he runs out and, sometimes, he puts up this sign if he has no corn to sell.
When I saw the row of signs, all in a row, indicating that these were for sale, I just knew that I had to get a shot of them. Before I knew it though, the ‘For Sale’ signs had been replaced by ‘Sold’ ones!
This row of six small cottages had been empty and abandoned for years until they were bought by a property developer, renovated and modernised and put on the market. I believe that they have been bought by a Housing Project that specialises in providing homes for senior citizens of limited means.

I found this 1977-78 Chrysler LeBaron coupe at T&B Motors on Raymond and Bluff Rd in Indianapolis. Of course this rare example is already sold. Hopefully someone will restore it to it's former glory. It was rainy, cold and windy so most of my shots were bad quality but I managed to salvage a couple.

LUNA DI MIELE... UNA PROMESSA MANTENUTA
In una delle tante lettere che ci scambiammo durante il servizio militare, la mia dolce Anto mi scrisse queste testuali parole:

" Odio Salerno, odio Napoli, per me le città più brutte del mondo, ti tengono lontano da me. "

Non erano trascorsi neppure i primi due mesi di naia.
E già era venuta due volte a trovarmi,
le mancavo maledettamente.
Del resto, era da quando aveva 10 anni che stavamo insieme,
non le andava proprio giù.
Eravamo in piena estate, e Salerno città di mare,
era affollata di gente felice in ferie.
Turisti, residenti anche tanti stranieri,
ma noi non vedevamo nulla di buono attorno.
Nel cuore, solo un forte senso d'ingiustizia.
Radunando le forze le feci una promessa:
" Mia cara Anto,
Il prossimo anno ti sposo e... GIURO
ti porterò in luna di miele proprio da queste parti.
Questo per farti vedere quanto è bella questa zona d'Italia.
Perle come Positano, Capri, Pompei, la stessa Salerno,
come pure tante altre località ,
sono luoghi che c'invidia il mondo intero.
I tuoi occhi non vedono sono chiusi dal dolore che provi."
PROMESSA MANTENUTA.
A dimostrazione della mia grande cocciutaggine.
Ancor più da pazzi fare il viaggio in auto e che auto,
una FIAT 126, nuova fiammante,
e per l'appunto di colore rosso.
Partenza, la mattina dopo il pranzo-cena di nozze,
il 17 luglio 1978, lunedì.
Prima tappa,
la mia Anzio dove mi aspettavano un paio d'amici.
Uno con i gradi di capitano,
il comandante della Caserma sul mare,
la mia "casa" per 8 mesi filati.
L'altro un soldato, ormai congedato,
che abitava proprio nella cittadina di mare.
Aveva un bellissimo ristorante sul mare.
Alla fine fu una tappa forzata.
Questo perché arrivammo ad Anzio con il motore dell'utilitaria che sembrava perderlo per strada da un momento all'altro.
Andai subito da Mauro Boccuccia, l'amico commilitone.
Il quale mi portò dal suo meccanico di fiducia.
Nulla di grave.
Si erano allentati tutti i bulloni che fissavano il motore al telaio.
Giovedì mattina l'auto sarebbe stata pronta.
Pranzammo al suo bellissimo ristorante in riva al mare,
tra l'altro il tutto offerto da Mauro.
E' il mio regalo, ci disse sorridente.
Grazie amico mio a buon rendere.
Che fare due giorni ad Anzio,
ci ero stato ben 8 mesi l'anno prima.
Mauro gettò l'idea.
Andate un paio di giorni a Ponza è una splendida isola.
Telefono io, anche se in alta stagione, vi trovo una bella pensioncina.
Che caro.
Vedi a trattarli bene gli amici?

I just received payment for this photo which I have sold to Scholastic Canada for a children's book about careers. That makes 2 sales in one year. Does this mean I have to turn professional?
