Telescombe Town Civic Centre - Sussex

Not very impressive, is it? But from out there in the Atlantic with all these chunks of rock poking out of the ocean it's probably quite appealing to a mariner.

Really it just looks like a little wooden shed, a bit ramshackle, and some photo-voltaic solar panels mounted vertically. Because that is what it is. You know you're a long way north when the solar panels face the south and vertical is the best angle for mountings.

Out behind the light to the north is a tall, very narrow, cliff-sided rocky peninsula capped with a knife-edged grassy ridge. By all accounts the view back to the light from there is spectacular. But not today. On a good day I might go out there if there was fixed rope, I was harnessed, had a via ferrata lanyard and maybe some self-rescue kit and a competent buddy. I have none of those and it is blowing a gale despite the sunshine. In fact in this wind I just think I'd really not want to do it at all. It's that windy.
