As part of the Community Based Solar Energy (CBSE) 2024 initiative, the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), with funding from the Imamat Fund, successfully completed the installation of solar panel systems on 16 July 2025 in Al-Mfakar village, located in the Salamieh district. The installation took place across six key locations within the village, aiming to improve access to reliable and sustainable energy in this rural area. This intervention is part of a broader effort to address energy poverty by introducing off-grid solar power solutions that are both clean and affordable. By doing so, the CBSE project seeks to foster social and economic development in underserved communities, ultimately contributing to a better quality of life through enhanced energy security and sustainability.
Land preparation for the installation of a solar-powered system was carried out on 28 May 2025 in Ras Altrkman village, Tartous, as part of the 2024 CBSE (Community-Based Solar Energy) project activity titled "Installation 2024CBSE project." This preparatory step is essential to ensure the technical readiness of the site for the future installation of solar units. The activity targets one village in one location and is in line with the data reported to the MERL unit. It supports the broader goals of the CBSE project, which aims to deliver sustainable energy solutions through off-grid solar power systems and ensure access to affordable and clean electricity. Funded and implemented by the Imamat Fund, this effort contributes to climate adaptation while promoting community-led renewable energy initiatives that aim to unlock social and economic development and improve the quality of life in the targeted community.
