At the entrance to Oranjezon, the rain poured down relentlessly. And yet, there it was—a kingfisher perched on a steel beam, fishing with quiet focus as the drizzle softened the landscape. A fleeting encounter in Zeeland’s autumn mist.

This stunning panorama captures the essence of Hawaii's diverse coastal landscape. The foreground showcases a rugged shoreline, where ancient lava flows have created a complex network of dark, jagged rocks that stand in stark contrast to the azure waters of the Pacific. White-capped waves crash against this volcanic barrier, creating a mesmerizing display of nature's power.
Beyond the rocky outcrop, a golden sandy beach stretches invitingly along the coastline, its warm hues a perfect complement to the deep blue of the ocean. The beach appears serene and relatively untouched, with only a few distant figures visible, hinting at its appeal as a peaceful retreat.
The lush, green hillside in the foreground provides a visual bridge between the viewer and the coastal scene, its verdant slopes a testament to the island's tropical climate. In the distance, mountains rise majestically, their contours softened by a light haze, creating a picturesque backdrop that completes this quintessential Hawaiian vista.
This image beautifully illustrates the harmonious coexistence of Hawaii's volcanic origins with its lush, tropical present - a paradise where fire-forged earth meets tranquil shores under an expansive, blue sky.
This photo is from a series of photos of “spiky hoarfrost” I took during a walk nearby. This event was the first ever "spiky" version I’ve seen here. All other times the hoarfrost was shorter and more rounded and the temperatures were about 10-20 degrees F colder. Both ways are exquisitely beautiful. I’m so grateful to have a macro lens that sees details I could never see! Fog had been present about six hours through the night and this frost was seen only on the north side of surfaces. It was just below freezing, so as the fog lifted and the temperature began to rise, these spikes softened to a version of slush.
Adrienne blinked, stunned. “What do you mean I remember from times past?”
Kayla’s voice softened. “Every soul carries echoes. No matter how many lives you've lived, something always lingers—instincts, fragments… a pull toward what you once were.”
Adrienne narrowed her eyes. “You’re saying I was reincarnated… and that I used to be a Jumper?”
“I don’t just think it—I know it,” Kayla said, certainty in her voice. “It’s in your lineage. Your DNA. Your bloodline. You, I came from the same origin. You’ve reincarnated dozens of times since the beginning always connected to that spark.”
Adrienne’s disbelief flickered behind her guarded expression, but something in her shifted—curiosity, maybe. Or dread.
“I hope we can awaken some of your memories,” Kayla said gently. “So you won’t have to relearn everything from scratch.”
She reached out, pressing her fingertips to the side of Adrienne’s head. Eyes fluttering closed, she inhaled deeply, then held the silence like a thread between them.
Adrienne’s mind went blank and saw she saw intense bright light.
A moment passed. Then another. Kayla’s smile broke quietly across her face.
“Yes… it’s all there. Buried deep, but intact.”
“What’s there? What did you do?” Adrienne asked, her voice wary.
“Everything,” Kayla said. “The instincts, the paths you once walked as a Jumper. It's all there. Once you begin using your abilities, it’ll start returning.”
Adrienne shook her head, uncertain. This is insane, she thought. How did I get into this...
Kayla opened her eyes and responded without missing a beat. “Not insane. Just… more real than you’re ready to admit.”
Adrienne flinched. “That was— You were in my head. I heard you inside my head.”
Kayla grinned, playful and sure. “Yup. You’ve got this. Don’t block it—believe.”

I haven't shot regularly in some time... So it goes.
My oldest daughter and her wonderful boyfriend moved to a different city five years ago. My wife suggested I get a phone so that we could all keep in contact.
Unfortunately, my brain and hands make it difficult to text frequently.
My daughter is sweet and understanding, messaging me often, even if my replies are mostly heart emojis.
So, this October I've captured a daily "spooky" image with my phone and sent them to her. It harkens back to when we'd do Halloween photos together as a family, and she sends "spooky" images in return.
I'm impressed with modern phones; you can click, edit, and send all on one device. It has allowed me to play in a way I used to love.
My wife has been encouraging and supportive. I think she's enjoying the treasure hunt of finding images. Halloween is one of our favorite times of the year!
I wouldn't be able to do any of this without her.
We captured this angel earlier in the month. She spotted this sculpture, the beautiful light, and pulled over so I could get the image. It was 90% her and the natural light.
Many thanks to my amazing wife, Juli Ann, Cassie and Bryce for allowing me to do something I love once again... even for a month.
at dusk
light softens.
buildings glow
more ethereal,
rooftop towers
and chimneys
fade as neon
paints streets
as people move
ghostly along
sidewalks from
work to home
as sirens wail
as cars pass
and a muffled
hum as night
comes on
seems to be
the city singing
itself to sleep

We went to the Rooftop Bar at the Art Gallery of Western Australia on a saturday evening. It is a tremendous venue with a low key vibe and an eclectic mix of people of all ages. We were there at sunset and the views and colours were amazing. All photos taken were handheld with high ISO so Im surprised they came out as well as they did. I have deliberately left all the noise in this shot as I think it added to the image. In hindsight i should have shut down the shutter speed a little more. All photos taken with the ethereal filter (Urth) which softens the image a little but adds a little warmth to the scene.
Norwich Cathedral
Seen here under a blanket of winter snow, Norwich Cathedral sits at the heart of its close, the great Norman building clearly defined from the air by its cruciform plan and enclosed cloister. With trees bare and the city hushed, the geometry of nave, transepts and cloister becomes especially clear, revealing the careful order imposed on this landscape nearly a thousand years ago.
The cathedral was founded in 1096 by Herbert de Losinga, the first Bishop of Norwich, and largely completed by 1145. Built of Caen stone imported from Normandy, it is one of the finest Romanesque cathedrals in Europe. Its spire, rebuilt in stone in 1480 after earlier wooden versions, rises to 315 feet, making it the second tallest in England after Salisbury. The cloister, begun in 1297 and completed in the mid-14th century, is the largest monastic cloister in the country and the only one with a complete sequence of medieval roof bosses.
From above, the cathedral’s relationship with the surrounding Close is unmistakable: a self-contained precinct set apart from the streets beyond, originally housing monks of the Benedictine priory that once dominated this part of Norwich. In winter, snow softens the roofs and paths, but the structure itself remains unchanged — a place shaped by faith, continuity, and time.
Yet another flower bokeh with Olypmuz OM G.Zuiko Auto-S 50mm f1.4. I did some old fashioned D.I.Y. softening filter out of medical gaze. SOme contrast returned with Darktable
We climbed out of Salt Lake City, heading north and east over an area of ridges and reservoirs. The Wasatch Range cast a growing shadow but the sun was still on the clouds. Fog was forming in the valleys while smoke from forest fires in California softened the features of the landscape and perhaps added color to the sky.
A painting of me , a bit softened had to much details for being so far away and texturing of the sky(was to white after all)
Thanks for the visit have a nice day
The unstoppable incursion of spring is beginning to dominate the northland, breaking the cold, iron-hard grip of winter... and what a welcome seasonal advance it is!

🌼 Dalia Top by Newphe 🌼
There’s a moment just after sunrise when the light softens everything — edges, fabric, and even thoughts. That’s how the Dalia Top by Newphe feels against my skin: effortless, delicate, and quietly confident.
Its silhouette is a modern echo of the 1970s camisole — those days when draped jersey tops and soft spaghetti straps hinted at sensual freedom. But Dalia carries it forward with a subtle ruched gather down the center and a whisper of a keyhole cut — suggestive yet sweet. The hem dances just above the navel, an ode to playfulness and the art of leaving things beautifully undone.

💛 The HUD unfolds a palette that celebrates youth and modern chic — pastels kissed with dew, jewel tones for quiet evenings, and neutrals for those easy, everyday pairings. You can mix the hues to suit your moment — a sunbeam of color for brunch, or muted dusk shades when the world slows.

Because sometimes, simplicity isn’t the absence of detail — it’s the mastery of it.

These three pictures are nearly identical; one has a detailed texture and one has been 'softened' [and that version has been framed, because I like framing them, but not everyone likes frames] Incredibly, they were purple flowers in the original photo!
A veil of morning fog drapes the rolling hills of Hawke’s Bay, softening the landscape into layers of muted greens and greys. Golden light catches the tops of scattered trees, their winter leaves glowing warmly against the cool mist. The scene is serene and ethereal, with the lone poplar in the foreground standing as a quiet sentinel, guiding the eye towards the gentle rise of the hill and the distant silhouettes fading into the haze. It’s a fleeting moment where light, land, and atmosphere blend into a tranquil harmony.
Softening ice, disintegrating snow, and maybe the frogs are thawing....
Below freezing at night, but this day warmed to 55° F (13°).
Sea softened pilings are found everywhere along the beaches on the Rockaway Peninsula.
I headed out to the Rockaways this weekend to photograph the endangered Piping Plover. But, me being me, I found two pathways leading into the high dunes intriguing. Would I see hawks or falcons or an owl among the parks many pine trees? No, autumn is the best season to view raptors, but what I did find...... Tomorrow, the graffiti filled bunkers of Fort Tilden.
Note: Beginning June 15th, a $50 fishing permit is required to park in Fort Tilden; well worth the price of admission if you enjoy surfing casting for sea bass, blues, and summer flounder, or just strolling around taking snaps.
Also, there are no snack bars in Fort Tilden. So, if you don't bring it with you..... which may account for the large number of imported beer bottes I found among the cans of spray paint in the WWII bunkers.
When all else fails, the moon has its kind eyes on you. Trust its light, and your fall will be softened.

First try of my new 85mm 1.8 D I bought used some days ago. Went on purpose for the older Version of the lense, because it delivers a special and softer look than the new 85mm G.
I appreciate your comments and feedback!

"Brutalism" as an architectural style that features, among other things, unadorned concrete--in this case, the hard surface is molded with an interesting pattern. I like it; the outside of a large theater building on campus. 1960s design. A young redwood tree softens the effect and brings Nature into the picture Have a good day!.
