For all those sweltering from too much heat. This was taken during the frosty days of winter in High Park, Toronto.
While the weather was crazy, with the almost tornado force winds. The snowdrifts that were created by the highwinds were a work of art. I only wish I had been able to capture more before my face and hands became too cold.
This was taken today as I crossed over Donner Pass. Traffic was heavy from all the Californians heading home from Reno. I couldn't pull over, so taking advantage of the near crawl speed, I just shot a few pictures through my windshield. In Sacramento tonight, and two delivery stops in South San Francisco tomorrow morning. Oh joy, more traffic tomorrow. Winter trying to hang on, pretty heavy snow storm last night before I finished in Winnemucca. Got a pretty nice shot before leaving the truck stop of the fresh snow and distance mountains. Something to post another time. Anyway, gonna post this and do some catching up, got a few hours before I have to go to bed.

This is a photo of wind sculpted snow drifts on Clam Harbour Beach that have been dusted with wind blown beach sand.
This minimalist winter scene captured with a Lensbaby is sure to cool you down. It was a chilly 28°F that morning, and had only warmed up to 31°F when I snapped this photo. I like how the smooth, sweeping snowdrifts in the foreground contrast with the broken corn stalks, before fading into a blurred horizon under a pale, wispy winter sky.

It was carnage in the glen today, pure carnage. Road closed, road opened, closed, ohh hang on, it's open again. Parts of the road down to one lane through the gorge and over by Rannoch Moor because of 7 to 8 foot drifts across the road with only a JCB able to dig through one lane, all very exciting.
Lorries stuck or stranded, gritter off the road, the only vehicle getting through for a while was a tractor with a blade on the front. I followed him through one section of the glen and he was doing a sterling job.
Very difficult to get parked anywhere as the ploughs have left a 3 foot verge of snow so you can't get in. Managed to get the car squeezed in to the corner at the Buachaille where someone had cleared enough room for a car. Couldn't walk far from the road because the snow was up to my groin in places, lovely snow too, that dry light stuff.
I've never laughed so much walking such a short distance. It was a big struggle just to get to there but it was a laugh doing it.
I know I wanted a big dump of snow but this was taking it too far.
Tried a few more spots but parking was an issue and Plod doesn't like it when you leave the car on the road with the hazard lights flashing.

Fannar is an Icelandic name that means snowdrift.
Pronounced fur-NAH, this is not a common nor an uncommon name in Iceland.. It could be a fabulous winter baby name for a family with Icelandic heritage.

It snowed in Calgary for 44 straight hours from March 1 night to March 3 afternoon, dropping up to 30 centimeters of snow in some parts of the city. It will likely be of no surprise to me that the start of March 2018 will make the record books with regards to snowfall.
Obviously I didn’t have a keen interest in shoveling snow but appreciating the interim break after the snowstorm.
Looking to Shutlingsloe and Croker Hill. I gave up trying to get to the top of Shining Tor for sunrise.

Had to get a shot of this fresh snowdrift which followed the curves of the frozen river. The Sunrise was kicking off to the left of the shot but this drift was coloured pink from the light reflected off the headland to the right out of the frame. (Reflection of a reflection)
This is how my Super Bowl Sunday started out and it went down hill from there.15" of snow and 20-30 mph sustained winds made for white-out conditions and 4' drifts.It will take days to clean up this winter "wonderland"....

We are having very high winds and regular whiteouts today.
I took this photo before I cleared the snow for a second time this morning and it's snowing again.
So far we've had six inches of snow in two blizzards with virtually zero visibility. The main road 3 kilometres away was closed due to the heavy snow and snowdrifts.
The good news is that the weather has warmed up to zero - minus 3C.
