The Snowden Bridge across the Missouri River, the only lift bridge in the state of Montana, seen in 1983. Located south of Bainville, the bridge dates to 1913 and was built by the Great Northern Railroad as part of its Eastern Montana Railway which was intended to connect New Rock, North Dakota and Lewistown, Montana (and was never completed). Vehicles also used the bridge for nearly 60 years between 1926 and 1986 (note the vehicle crossing in the photo). The bridge is now part of the BNSF system.
With a name like Snowden, I assumed this area would look much different, possibly a snowshed? But, the Missouri River valley isn't too shabby itself. A BNSF stack train for the Pacific coast speeds by on the GN main across the Missouri River, while you can see the GN/NP joint route bridge over the river in the foreground. The Northtown, Dore train mentioned earlier would cross this bridge in an hour.

Instead, MEPs failed to support a Green call to protect him as a whistleblower. This display of cowardice sends out a negative message that whistleblowers who expose injustice will not be protected.
It's a cop-out, from a desire not to "offend" the US, whose own citizens are equally shocked. And it's made worse by the failure to support calls for a suspension of negotiations on an EU-US trade agreement (TTIP) until the US ceases its mass surveillance of EU citizens.
