You never know what might be just out of view from a road you've traveled countless times. About a month ago, I was approaching Appomattox on Rt. 460, and decided to have a look over one of the railroad crossings above the road, where the view south is blocked from the highway. Turned out the crossing was the entrance to a farm, and this attractive abandoned old farmhouse was just over the hill at the bottom of the road.

taken last night after a very warm but stunning bike round around the Gritstone Edges of Stanage and Bamford.
Sometimes you just have to pull over and take a picture of that roadside oddity. Actually, I turned around several blocks away and went back, as I knew I would regret not photographing this!
the last days here in la palma we lived through a fierce wild fire. it started friday 21 and was declared controlled the 26th. there was no time to do some serious photographing as it affected our finca too. thanks to all the firefighters on the ground and in the air. ‘dubbelexposure’ with snapseed
