The smoke from the Maple Fire created this surreal sky at sunrise along the Madison River near the Three Brothers Mountains.
As of 9/3/2016 The Maple Fire has consumed 39,000 acres in Yellowstone National Park. The firefighters are working to keep the fire north of the West Entrance Road. If they are successful, this area will not burn.
As always, thanks so much for stopping by.

Another photo near the Visitor center at Hurricane Ridge. We had 3 forest fires this last summer 2016. The official National Park policy is, to let them burn themselves out. Unless they get close to people or park property. Needles to say, they were trying to get this one out.
An Eastern Screech Owl -- appears to be a red morph.
From Cornell -
Eastern Screech-Owls can be either mostly gray or mostly reddish-brown (rufous). Whatever the overall color, they are patterned with complex bands and spots that give the bird excellent camouflage against tree bark. Eyes are yellow.

This was the only shot of so many shots where the lightning showed itself outside of all the clouds. A new favorite of mine. Hope yall enjoy and mayGod Bless you!!!
Sadly the Fall season in Woodinville, WA, and many other parts of the country, is starting out with smoke from wild fires near and far. This photo has fog in the lower atmosphere and smoke in the upper turning the sun orange.
Image was taken in Cades Cove in the Smokies. Camera was an Olympus E-PL5 converted to infrared by LifePixel.
5 years ago I failed to get a full sun shot at a spot I wanted badly, and when the weather cooperated when I returned this year, other factors arose. With big fires near Edson to the east, smoke took place of the clouds and created their own unique mood, but just not quite the mood I was hoping for. With the sun falling fast and the shadows growing fast, Q117 drifts over the causeway with a long train of containers.
The skies were a bit hazy from the fires burning created a misty and almost mystical sunset that was fun and interesting to try and frame with the silhouetted trees in the foreground. Would make for a neat painting as well.
Sunset at the canal has a backdrop of smoke as the distant longboat fires up its stove as a frosty evening approaches.

Flowing water in this long exposure shot resembles wisps of smoke curling around granite blocks making up a jetty or groyne on the Galveston, Texas, beach.
Very small village nestled in shades of green in the valley of these majestic mountains. Please zoom in..

Great Smoky Mountains - The place is surrounded by a dense forest with a river running though it. The great smoky mountain is covered with foggy all year long, sometimes it is too thick, you have to wait for a while until you can see the scenery… But the foggy covered scenery always attracts me, in the middle of nowhere with nothing around but Natures Mountains… The beauty of these mountains allow you for those brief moments to forget about everything else that's going on in life. It's just you, and the majesty of the woods in the mist.
