The combination of Smoke from the forest fires in Alberta Canada, steam from the Grand Prismatic Stream and a Setting sun
August has been going by so quickly for me - my day job continues to be busy, and the Great Salt Lake continues to be covered with smoke from massive fires burning in California and Oregon.
This shot is from July before the wildfire smoke - my heart goes out to all those who are have been impacted by those fires.
The Great Salt Lake - GPS is not the exact spot of the shot.

Much of Minnesota was choked with smoke from Canadian fires and a couple of our own for much of the summer of 2021.

It almost looks like low cloud cover but this is all smoke from last summers fires. It was nice to get above it and not have to breath the smoke for a bit.
Thank you in Advance for your kind ‘Faves’ and visits they are so very much appreciated.
I cannot always ‘Thank’ everyone individually, for their visits and ‘Faves’ however, I will always try to respond and thank all those that leave a ‘Comment’.
Your 'Comments' do not always appear in 'Notifications' or Flickr mail, so, I am sorry for any delay in responding. Often your 'Comment' is only spotted 'On the Page' on the day, that I see it. (seen ONLY when replying to someone HAS 'Commented' on the image)
pretty patterns. For Macro Mondays, the theme is 'Smoke'. I used an incense cone and put a small upside down funnel on top to lead the smoke through. Happy Macro Mondays/ HMM
Rising sun in Petoskey, Michigan, about 500 miles from the Canadian fires in Quebec. You can smell the smoke in the air, it feel like someone is burning stuff in their backyard. The days are hazy, people cough, and I got a headache at the end of the day. The smoke has been coming in for about a week; I can't imagine what it can be like on site.
I was experimenting with smoke photography (not easy to achieve) and managed to capture this interesting pattern. I then did some post processing to give it colour and more form.
I found this instrumental track which I thought went with the image.......enjoy

(Open in a separate window and listen and watch the dancing smoke patterns)
A plume of smoke from the west coast fires arrived here yesterday. At least we got a colorful sunset out of it and the smoke was high in the atmosphere so didn't affect breathing, which isn't the case for the suffering people closer to the fires.

There was heavy rain most of the day
Nice to see the Green Park shed code plate on the smoke box door
