The Phlegraean Fields are a huge caldera west of Naples, sharing a magna chamber with Vesuvio Volcano. This is the Solfatara crater, the smell of sulphur has a strong note.
While I was wandering in the very hot sunshine amongst the Rose beds of the State Rose Garden at Werribee Park, I realised that this couple were quietly lying under the roses in the shade. A bit surprising!
Today is Valentines Day or what they now call "The Galentines Day". I don't necessarily celebrate i with huge gestures but more in a warm cosy setting with takeaway and a good movie. Very simple lady I am

Badgers are very careful when they come out of the burrow and they smell the air for a while in case of danger. They don't have a good eyesight but they have an excellent sense of smell !
Photogenic pika gathering flowers to transport them to its den for a later snack. This pika's den was with in 4 m of the trail in RMNP, very acclimated to human observation.
From Britannica: Pika, (genus Ochotona), small short-legged and virtually tailless egg-shaped mammal found in the mountains of western North America and much of Asia. Despite their small size, body shape, and round ears, pikas are not rodents but the smallest representatives of the lagomorphs, a group otherwise represented only by hares and rabbits (family Leporidae). Unlike hares and rabbits, their hind legs are not noticeably longer then their front legs.
The Expectation is to Stop and Smell the Roses
But in the mountains there are only wildflowers to enjoy
So I will stop to live that moment
No speed involved to my finish line

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one afternoon in Big Bend National Park at a roadside pullout along the main Basin road. The view is looking to the west across the Chisos Basin area to The Windows off in the distance. Because of the several thousand foot decline in elevation present across this national park landscape, I had to angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward to capture a more sweeping view. The more distant peaks and mountains would be pushed higher into the image but leave enough for me to include some of the blue skies and clouds above.
For processing the image, I chose to work with Aurora HDR Pro to better bring that complete setting in the image. I later exported a TIFF image to DxO?PhotoLab 4 where I did some final adjustments with contrast, saturation and brightness for the final image.
