"The Orkel compactors are able to bale a wide variety of bulk or chopped material like forage maize, grasses, forage mixes/TMR, crimped grain, and manure. Our maize balers are currently in use for more than 25 different materials, and still expanding to new areas of use. Packing forage in Orkel high-density bales has proven to give a 20% - 36% increase in dairy milk production, compared to using bunker silo. We would love to tell you more about these great results.

What makes it reliable:

The Orkel compactors are engineered with great experience and skill. Various technical details like auto greasing of all bushings and auto oiling of chains, makes the Orkel compactors exceptionally durable. The results are low maintenance and life cycle costs, which gives major advantages for your production. "Advantages of baling sugar beet pulp

In 2006, sugar factories in Poland carried out successful baling tests of sugar beet pulp using the Orkel MP2000 compactor. The tests showed that baling the material, compared to storing it in bunker silos or silo bags, offered three great advantages:

1. The pulp will cool down faster

2. The pulp may be fed to cattle sooner

3. The pulp suffers no nutritional loss The baling process of sugar beet pulp takes place at the sugar factor, near the pulp tray. Ideally, the pulp is ensiled hot and with high density. The pulp is transported from the feed hopper of the compactor into the chamber, where a compact bale is formed. Widefilm or net is applied in the chamber, before the bale is finally wrapped in stretch film.

"There are numerous reasons to why one should avoid feeding moldy, low-quality feed to cattle, one of them being that cows are rather selective regarding diet.   As the amount of mold increases due to poor storage, the fodder becomes less palatable while suffering a decrease in energy- and nutrient content. In this scenario, cows tend to eat less than usual, leaving a surplus of fodder to be disposed of.   Other studies suggest that some animal consume a greater amount of low-quality fodder than initially needed in order to make up for lost nutrition. This increased consumption suggests a link to food waste, as the feed conversion ratio increases. Orkel’s round bales allows the fodder to retain its nutrients by limiting the possibility for mold growth. Due to cows’ sensitivity to low-quality fodder, Orkel bales allow your cows a whole high-quality meal without having to leave displeasing, moldy excess behind. Visit Orkel’s home page to read more about how Orkel round bales minimizes food waste!
