Use of Segmation by Xaos Tools to turn a 500KB JPEG into an enlarged graphic. While graphic is saved as a 2MB JPEG, it could just as easily be saved as a vector. Use a program like Genuine Fractals or pxl SmartScale and it can be enlarged even further to poster size. Of course, texture can always be added as desired.
BTW, this is a detail of a plaza fountain located in Rosenheim, Germany.
My first test of Rsizr, a free online tool for seam-carving aka content-aware scaling aka retargeting. I used the photo that I took at the Palace Square in St Petersburg and smart-scaled it horizontally down to 50% using Rsizr.
This time, the original image was smart-scaled horizontally to 95% in Rsizr in order to remove the two people standing in front.
