Fresno State industrial technology faculty Dr. Balaji Sethuramasamyraja measures the root zone of a campus almond orchard tree to demonstrate the depth to install soil moisture sensors that collect data at 1, 2 and 3 feet depths (on the sunny and shaded parts of the tree) for cloud-based data analytics. The demonstration was part of a CyberSees smart farm technology research work day that is part of a National Science Foundation-funded collaborative project with UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly faculty and students.
