New York Power Authority’s Smart Path clean energy transmission infrastructure project in the North Country has now been completed and successfully energized. The Smart Path project is an upgrade of 78 miles of transmission lines that span from Massena in St. Lawrence County to Croghan in Lewis County. The milestone helps put New York on track to meet its nation-leading clean energy goals, outlined in the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, including 70 percent renewable energy generation by 2030 and a zero-emissions electricity sector by 2040.
Carl McIntyre, Research Fellow in Materials Science and Engineering of the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan, demonstrates the application and increase in viscosity of electrorheological fluid. The fluid is being deemed as a "smart fluid" by researchers at the University of Michigan and can be used to improve applications such as shock absorbers in car brakes and cluthes.

On the weekends these little Smart Cars drive around Fremantle in a group of three. They tow advertising boards on wheels for various companies.

The original idea behind the very short "smart car" was that the vehicle would be easy to park. It is short enough to allow it to be parked "nose-in" where a conventionally sized car would have to parallel park. Its length of 250 centimetres (98.4 in) equals the width of a regular parking slot, allowing two or three smarts to park in the same space as one normal car if parked side-on to the usual parking direction.
The project idea was originally started by Swiss watch manufacturer Swatch and was nicknamed the "Swatchmobile". The name SMART is an acronym for Swatch Mercedes ART.[1][2] The car was supposed to use innovative features (such as a hybrid engine) and to be an affordable car for young people. Similar to the objective for the Citroën 2CV in the 1940s, its purpose was to "transport two people and a case of beer".
The Division of Agriculture held a grand opening for the Poultry Science Smart Farm research facility May 15, 2023. The advanced systems research poultry house is located on the Milo J.
