Scientists and engineers at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory developed the Smart Charger Controller to manage peak demands in the electric grid once a mass of electric vehicle hit the road. The controller tells an electric vehicle's battery when to start and stop re-charging based upon existing stress in the grid.

Those tiny cars are so small and so oddly-shaped that they remind me of the Capsule Corporation car that Bulma drives in the original Dragonball manga/anime (pre-Dragonball Z).

The second generation smart forfour at the mb!-store in The Hague (Den Haag).
The new smart fortwo and forfour are codeveloped with Renault, which uses the same platform for the Twingo city car. The fortwo and forfour come with three engine options: a 60 PS base model, a 71 PS 1,0-litre and a turbocharged 90 PS 0,9-litre engine (all sourced from Renault). Unlike their predecessors they both don't come with a diesel engine.
Its interior feels more 'premium' than before, but since it's no longer based on the supermini Mitsubishi Colt, but instead being based on the same platform as the new Twingo, it's one class smaller. Its dashboard looks and feels classy, although not as mature as the new Hyundai i10, which is not as 'fun' as the forfour.

Friday 31st sun and cloud – Visit to Atlas moutains.
Woke at 6.45 to be ready for the 4x4 at 8.20
Same driver as we had from Agadir to take us into the Atlas mountains.
Travelled wth Ina and Rene from Holland, alongside 4 other Landcruisers
Drove across a wide and uncultivated plain, stopping at a pottery on the way where I bought a small pot (very expensive – Roger).
There was snow on the mountains, a sprinkling low down, which were very beautiful
Firstly went up the Ourika Valley where Branson took off in his balloon, built a hotel and a school.
Drove up to a small village where the snow was about 6" deep.
Had a very relaxing break for tea and bread in a Berber house with a 3 generation family.
Shown a very basic kitchen with a small open fire and then into a smart lounge where the grandfather made mint tea. It was a complex process and delicious.
On the way back a mischievous young lad and I started throwing snowballs; he, off the roof top. He was rewarded with a Mars Bar.
Not far ahead before one of our vehicles ahead came off the road into a deep ditch trying to avoid a truck. Another tourist convoy coming towards us tried to help for half an hour but then drove away. Our drivers then pulled it out. Around the corner they had to pull out another vehicle which had met a similar fate.
A long drive through a very beautiful, narrow, winding valley to our lunch venue at a Moroccan 'Chamonix'. It has a long way to go! Lunch of mixed salads, a tagine omelette followed by tagine chicken and vegetable couscous and clementines. It didn't go down too well with Roger.
Next stop was at a feminine co-operative where they make oil from the argon tree beans and use this to make cosmetics. No purchases i.e. jasmine oil 180dh for 60 gr.
Said goodbye to Hussein our guide and drove back to Marrakech
A good day but a bit too much driving, though beautiful.
