What a coincidence. I was wandering through the university and ran in to Bernard and Sabina. Bernard is from Austria and Sabina is from Germany. Bernard attended the Smalltalk Solutions conference. We had lunch at a reall nice Italian place and got chatting. I was intending to go to Niagara the next day and so where they! They had hired a car, so it was agreed - we'd go together.

Speaking at a side event of the ASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (AFMGM), President Kanda underscored the central role of deep, well‑connected capital markets in absorbing shocks, reducing dependence on external financing, and channeling savings into productive investment.
He emphasized that digital transformation is key to advancing cross‑border capital connectivity, expanding access, and building trust in financial markets. As integration deepens, President Kanda called for stronger regional coordination, including interoperable regulatory frameworks, innovation guided by clear guardrails, and inclusive digital infrastructure that reaches all ASEAN economies.
ADB reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with ASEAN to advance resilient, integrated, and future‑ready capital markets.
