Gotta see this one Large on Black! | Full Stream on Black

While waiting for the wedding to begin.... I decided to make good use of the time. "Hey, can I get all the groomsmen together for a minute." Plus, compared to the weather outside, inside the house was so cool and refreshing...

I had a hard time deciding between this one and a similar one for Flickr b/c the other one had a slightly better composition. In the other shot, however, everyone was looking at the camera-- you know, the typical: everyone stop, look at the camera and smile.... This one ultimately won b/c I just really like the relaxed, free-flowing sense of it. Something different. And even though dude on the right is not looking at the camera, I feel this adds to the overall atmosphere.

SB-600 bounced off ceiling, and shot in TTL mode. Also, shutter speed was a little slow to bring in ambient light from a window on the left.

the camera really blues it out...the lavendar is actually much more subtle than this...

Pic from Better Homes and Gardens magazine. A small space solution when full couches would over power the space. I love the wall of windows and all the light they bring in.

Last weekend we finally had some time to shoot together.... unfortunately, a rare occurrence. We shot around in a super old abandoned building in Virginia City, NV.

Small bookcase at the foot of the bed.

This was my little room at Pence Springs. No TV, just a static-y radio, a sink, a phone, and some tables. The bathroom connected with my neighbor, but there were private rooms as well. The "peep holes" installed on the outside of the door to spy on inmates when it was a prison were reversed so the hotel patron could look out. :)

Years ago, I did a field school project for school where I visited historic spring-based resorts in Southern West Virginia and wrote recommendations on how to best use, preserve, and promote these historic resources (most of them underused, with the exception of the Greenbrier.) Some of the other students had other projects in the area, so we all traveled down together.

We stayed at Pence Springs, a historic resort with a fantastic history. The resort started out as a place for people to enjoy the healing spring waters, fell on hard times during the depression, became an all-girls boarding school, and when that too failed, became a WOMEN'S PRISON, which it remained for many years. When that closed, it was abandoned for a very long time, until it was rescued and restored, back into a resort. It was bought and sold a few times. Alas, now the (huge) property has been split up, and the hotel building itself is a private boarding school, no trespassing!

This makes me very upset, because I can truly say it was one of the nicest, most beautiful, most relaxing, fantastic experiences I have ever had, and it breaks my heart that I can't go stay there again.

Oh, by the way, I did try the water while I was there. It was very sulfurous, but I would say it was slightly invigorating! They had a cooler in the lobby that was filled with water from the spring for patrons to drink/try.

Johnston House - Second floor - Bedroom #4. This was a very small room. Here you see a single bed with a carved wood frame with a glimpse of a vintage chair next to it. Located off Route 96A at 3523 East Lake Road in Geneva, NY. (191)

I was walking down a street in Amsterdam, by a canal. I looked down at my bag to make sure everything was as it should, and saw this right below street level. :)

Talbot Rice Gallery 'Small Room', Edinburgh, Scotland... wouldn't it be nice to live somewhere where one of the smallest rooms look like this!? :-)

I finished painting the small room which will be my office. I painted it an off white. The neighbor will come over and finish the hard wood floor for me soon. I can then move in my desk, computer, scanner, printer, and files.

Secret #2- The was my room as I was growing up. As I was painting the room, memories came up from the past. I finally figured out why I have hated the color green for so many years. It is because this room had ugly green, pealing, wallpaper on it, that had disturbing up and down stripes. I pleaded with my mother to take the wall paper down, but she refused to do so. Somehow this association made me dislike the color green for all eternity. Maybe now that the room is white, the past can be washed clean and I can start enjoying green again. Now I know why I felt the need to paint the room white.

Moka coloured tiles fits with all kind of decorative styles. Illustrated tiles is a funny way to custom a small or youthfull kitchen.

This photo was made using the 5 megapixel camera in the NEW iPAD 3. I straightened the photo and cropped it slightly in iPhoto. No other adjustments were made whatsoever. The camera is vastly superior to that on the iPad 2. I've uploaded the full-sized file so that you can see the actual resolution. The image is 4.65 megapixels as shown. This was a hand-held photo.
