Thanks to Viv..... for the identification of this butterfly. It's a Hypolimnas bolina, the Great eggfly.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a blue day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Looking Close on Friday is : Small Animals with Wings. I had a picture in my head perfect for this theme and very beautiful one… it involved several beautiful butterflies and lady bugs (from my local craft store…) but instead I got a new friend : a fly !! Yes, you heard me right, my son found this fly… alive but not flying anymore… We put it on a strawberry, thinking that maybe after a short rest (and a quick photo session) it will be able to fly again… Well, eventually, after few hours, we took the fly outside and left it in our garden (yes, on the strawberry. So this way if the fly is hungry it will have plenty to eat ;-)). So here you go my small animal with wings is a real fly… I hope you like my picture since a real fly is less lovable than a picture (in my opinion but if you are a fly lover I apologize !!).
Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! Have a beautiful day my friends !! See you later!!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!
I was out back taking pics of the pretty Lantana flowers when this guy came by. :-) He's a Hummingbird Clearwing Moth. He only stayed a few minutes (less than 3 min) but I still vividly remember him. What a beauty.
For the Looking Close on Friday Group theme 'Small Animals with Wings' Hope you all have a great day.

HLCoF!
De zilveren maan komt ook in Nederland voor, helaas wel steeds zeldzamer.
This butterfly you can find as well in The Netherlands. Unfortunately it becomes rare in the Netherlands.
Thanks for taking time to fave, comment and look at my work. I really appreciate.
Grasshoppers are medium to large insects. Adult length is 1 to 7 cm, depending on the species. They have chewing mouthparts, two pairs of wings, one narrow and tough, the other wide and flexible, and long hind legs for jumping. They are different from these groups in having short antennae that don't reach very far back on their bodies.
Double-barred Finch (Taeniopygia bichenovii)
For 'Looking Close on Friday', the theme is 'Small Animals with Wings'
I accidentally got this capture of the bee at work while taking the Veronica shot, had to crop it out to see it, covered in pollen...small winged animal for LCoF.
This moth, the Small Magpie, Anania Hortulata, was on my bathroom ceiling the other morning and this shot of the little fella involved me balancing precariously on the rim of the bath and reaching up as close as I could get, without scaring him off!

Looking Close on Friday - Small animals with wings
The hoverfly landed on the cosmos while I was trying to get a shot, the hoverfly is not wonderfully in focus but since I love cosmos flowers and quite liked the shot anyway, I thought I'd post it.

Black tailed skimmer dragonfly (either a female or an immature male, not sure how to tell them apart) seen over Noak Bridge nature reserve warming itself in the hot June sunshine. Uploaded for Looking Close On Friday's theme "Small animals with wings"
It's cotoneaster time again. The bees just can't resist. Must be something special because the flowers are tiny. All bumblies this year. Sadly very few honey bees, but it was a very wet spring here in the UK and not warm.
on Hydrangea.

I was concerned I wouldn't find an little critters because it was too cold ... but maybe because of the cold it kept still for me😀
