Turns out, the parking lot of a busy gas station is not the best location to practice the finer points of photo composition.The folks rolling in tend to be in a hurry, (probably on their way inside to buy a delicious Slurpee® or Slushie®), and a dude with a camera blocking their egress is not completely appreciated.

Yesterday was 2-22, hence the title for my today's Lighthouse at Sunset picture :)

This is also dedicated to those who froze their butts off this winter taking outdoor photos to share them with the Flickr friends. Mine was snapped at 50 mph wind gusts and 1F real feel temp. I should do this more often.

Eyes are drawn by the lights, the lighthouse and the sky, however I would point out the dark matter to the left, which looks like an angry sandy beach - it's actually a murky wave propagating upstream the Black River exit in South Haven, the white area is the slurpee served by lake Michigan, pina colada flavor indeed.

I sure hoped everyone remembered to get a Slurpee; unfortunately, this store was out of the cups.

For me there's something fascinating about watching people involved in performing a religious act. It's a more private moment where the contents of one's heart is briefly made manifest into action, as they reach out beyond themselves in supplication of the devine. Here, in the simplest way, a mortal displays that he is able to rise temporarily above the daily buisness of we 'common' creatures, all satisfied with slurpees and cigarettes, and exercises his faith in something which fortifies him with purpose and reason for his existence.

Part of "The Sev Project," my attempt to gain understanding of Winnipeg by photographing all thirty eight 7-11 stores in Winnipeg.
