I have been after this shot for a while, my last attempt in trying to photograph this location was like being stood up in the middle of a car wash in a force 9, which is quite amusing to onlookers but requires all the clothing to go through the washing machine in order to get the sea salt off.

This is Barrel Rock at Bude and simplistically this was used in the old days as a warning to boats of the dangerous nature these rocks presented.

 

Hoof sends his best wishes, he is at today’s Trooping The Colour where he was a key figure in training all the horses to behave themselves 😇

 

Then tomorrow is the big one for Hoof yes a new series of Poldark appears on BBC at 21.00 and our man Hoof is the stand in For Seamus, Captain Poldark’s Horse.

 

I just hope that Hoof behaves as by his own admission he has taken a bit of a shine to Miss Demelza whilst on set, I have told him he could get his hoofs burnt😂

The Soul Sleuths are lined up along the railing of a sturdy bridge spanning Rook River, looking toward a forbidding concrete building surrounded by imposing fences of steel mesh, barbed, and razor wire. Several guard towers are positioned with clear views of all sides of the prison. Although weathered, the image is still daunting.

 

Nica: Well, there it is, Rook River Prison.

 

Philly: Gives me a shiver.

 

Edi: (perky) That's why I dressed for the cold.

 

Philly: Sweetie, you dressed for a Hallmark Christmas romp.

 

Edi: Aw, thank you!

 

Hammer: Nica, I have a question.

 

Nica: Sure.

 

Hammer: (clearly holding back laughter) You mentioned the prairie surrounding the prison, and how the dangerous rapids of the river prevented escape that way. (chortles) So, it didn't occur to them that they might use this bridge to cross the river? (everyone chuckles as the camera pans from the bridge to a moderately bustling town)

 

Nica: (also laughing) Okay, so it's built up since then, and the bridge wasn't here back then, either.

 

Hammer: This is one of the most urban haunts you've taken us to.

 

Edi: I can see a motel!

 

Philly: Thank you for running water, and an actual bed to sleep in.

Nica: Hammer, remember when you said you could tell there was more to the story about Rook River?

 

Hammer: I do.

 

Nica: In 1967 there was an unprecedented storm about a hundred miles that way. (points upriver) An absolute deluge. By the time all that water got here, it jumped the bend in its banks, hitting the prison so hard that all of the lower windows were shattered, the doors burst open, and the ground floor was flooded all the way up to the second tier.

 

Hammer: Holy crap.

 

Nica: 150 prisoners drowned in their cells, and 6 guards died on duty, on the first floor.

 

Rebus: (voice from direction of camera) I don't suppose anyone checked the weather reports for the surrounding area?

 

Philly: Dark spirits, dark water... No wonder I can't see anything but darkness.

 

Edi: (nods) Because it's night. (Philly does a slow turn on her while others giggle)

The Soul Sleuths are standing in a cellblock, looking around.

 

Nica: I really hate this place.

 

Hammer: I've seen worse. (Nica looks at her) Well, I have. You've taken us to some real dumps.

 

Nica: This isn't a travel channel. We're investigating reports of ghosts.

 

Hammer: And they can't haunt a 5 star hotel in Bermuda? (others laugh)

 

Nica: Philly, start snooping. Edi, get your Spectre Detectre in gear. Hammer, help me set up a couple touch lights, and a motion detector.

 

cut to INT-NIGHT-PRISON

 

Soul Sleuths are standing in an empty cell. A small light and other device are sitting in the far corner, behind them. Edi is wearing her Spectre Detectre.

 

Nica: Okay, we are in one of the cells where two prisoners drowned. We have the touch light and motion sensor set up out of human range. Hammer, please demonstrate. (Hammer walks toward the light, when she is about 6 inches from it, the little device starts to blink, red then she reaches out and touches the lamp, it flicks off then on again, she returns to the group.) So, as you see, physical contact must be made with the light, and you have to be less than a foot from the motion sensor for it to detect a presence.

 

Philly: Oh...oh, my. (sways and is steadied by Hammer) Something is here...someone who is angry.

 

Nica: We're trying to make contact with Howard Corbin or David Phelan, the two men who drowned in this cell. (pauses) If one of you are here, can you touch that lamp in the corner?

 

Hammer: Either of you. Both of you. Don't be shy.

 

Nica: Hammer!

 

Hammer: What? These were slimeballs who probably deserved the death penalty. I'm supposed to be polite?

 

Nica: Yes, they were both murderers, so maybe don't piss them off?

 

Hammer: Their murderin' days are over. You okay, Philly? (as he collapses against her even more)

Everyone gasps in relief, and letdown, but they all laugh, except Philly.

Edi: (claps her hands together loudly, causing everyone to jump) Not anymore. (proudly)

Yes, I know. You think I am an evil human being. I had no idea my little mantra, which was going to be placed front and center on a Tee Shirt, would actually come to pass, sort of, on the morning of October 2, 2020, with the announcement that the First Couple of the United States had tested positive for COVID-19.

 

With trumps death from natural causes, I surmised we would never have to hear that raspy, cloyingly annoying voice ever again bullying, insulting or humiliating anyone. Never again be told lies, half truths and conspiracy theory laden statements to create fear in those who are wont to believe his sort of trash. At least, those were and still are my thoughts. I certainly wouldn’t want another human to harm him, as then he would become a martyr to his cult, a Jim Jones of politics with statues erected in the parks of small towns in every red state. (Insert vomiting sounds here!)

 

To me, it’s absolutely appalling to see the people who are usually publicly condemning him, other politicians, media people and so, so many of us ‘little folk” on social media who are shocked and sickened by him, his actions and the vast lies he tells, the dastardly deeds he does, the illegalities, financially and constitutionally, he is alleged to have made and the threats he continues to make, appalled that those same people are now ‘sending their prayers’, ‘best wishes for a speedy recovery”, ‘healing thoughts’ and other sappy Hallmark sentiments while you know damn well they are muttering under their breath, ‘Die, Die You Motherfucker’. But I understand their predicament. Being public figures they don’t want a backlash on their careers, their place in government or their particular religious beliefs on wishing someone dead. Me, I have no such boundaries. I do not subscribe to any past or present mythologies that cloud my logic as to what is right and what is wrong. And trump is wrong. Dead wrong.

 

I am not evil. In fact, based on what others think of me, I am a very good person. A nice person. Caring, kind, very aware and very respectful of the natural world around me and the life that is in it. I’m also aware that Donald J. Trump is the most dangerous threat to Democracy and freedom that this country, the United States of America, has ever seen. If Mother Nature does decide to eliminate that threat on a permanent basis, I’m all for it and am cheering her on. Rah-Rah Mother Nature! But I’m not holding out hope that she will permanently remove him from this mortal coil. With all the help and medical support anyone could wish for, I’m sure he will make a total recovery…..UNLESS…….

 

Being the consummate liar that is trump, it wouldn’t surprise me one iota to discover he is not really COVID19 positive. That he is totally faking it, creating another sham to avoid having to deal with another debate debacle, or maybe just a show to gain sympathy from his cult to gain votes from those who may have been swayed a bit with his White Supremacy support or his tax evasion or the fact he is the main reason for the misinformation circulating across the US regarding COVID19 along with his downplaying of the disease from the get go; even though he knew full well how dangerous and deadly it was, he thereby condemned to death thousands more people who may have survived if proper precautions had been taken early on instead of being ignored or mocked. Only time will tell.

 

I do hope Melania totally recovers from her symptoms, if she, too, really has them. I wish no ill will on her. I believe she had no idea what she was really getting into when she met trump, getting in far over her head, flailing and floundering ever since she preceded him down that golden escalator of the trump Tower. Almost as though she was being escorted by Satan himself on her way down to Hell.

My cousin was on patrol amid all this white stuff when he observed a scumbag snatch a ladies purse. He radioed his 10-20 and bailed out and chased him down an alley. About half way down the alley Keith had a heart attack. Even back in those days Ohio had some great First Responders and they kept him alive on the very slow and slippery ride to the ER. After a long recovery Keith went back to work as a Detective. He finally retired as a Detective Sgt. In the end another heart attack finally did what all the slimeballs in Whitehall couldn't do. He went home to meet his dad and my dad (his uncle). He was like my older brother. Go 10-7 Keith and RIP, you've done your duty well.

There are some people walking this Planet who do not deserve to be called human.

 

A lady from the Rainbow Rehoming Centre came into the BBC on Tuesday, (Shane is at Radio Foyle in Londonderry all this month) with 6 babies that had been rescued by a woman who had seen some bastards putting them on a bonfire.

 

She was hoping that by going to air, she would find good homes for them.

 

Shane saw them and I think his heart melted and he picked out a teeny tiny scrap of a thing for me.

 

We have called him Rupert and I have just totally fallen in love with him. He is the tiniest thing I have ever seen, fitting into the palm of my hand and he has the bluest, bluest eyes. Just hoping they are going to stay that colour.

 

It is definitely like having a human baby. I have stayed up for the last couple of nights snatching some sleep on the sofa with him tucked into my neck. On demand feeding every two hours, followed by a trip to the kitty litter for him to have a poop and a pee. I even know now when he needs to go to the box as he looks at me and yowls. Been pooped and peed on, but that is par for the course and brought back memories of Rhianon and Gareth when they were babies!!!!!

 

Gareth especially!!!!

 

Princess Kitty is still not a 100% sure although she does lick him, its when he tries to burrow underneath her thinking she has milk that she gets disconcerted!

 

Jack, nearly clung to the ceiling when I introduced Rupert to him and he has had a bit of a play with him. Mind, I was keeping a beady eye on the play as Jack looked as if he wanted to flick him up in the air like he does with all the mice and ratties that he catches!

 

Zeus. Well, he has had a major hissy fit. TOTALLY pissed off with me as now he has to cope with another male in the house. I had to show him that I was the alpha male as he actually growled at me and I growled back and I am ten times louder!!!

 

Its a good job I wasn't at the studio because I would have taken all six!!

 

I am not a vindictive person, but I am definitely thinking evil thoughts and hoping that very, very nasty things befall the slimeballs who put these darling babies onto the fire.

 

The Rainbow Rehoming Centre always has cats, kittens, dogs and puppies up for adoption, so think of here first before a pet shop.

commander kylie shepard drinks blue by Kyle Inniatzo

there is one very strong connection between my characters commander kylie shepard of mass effect and commander kyle of second life: they both drink a lot. a great deal of sl rp time is spent hanging out in bars (its a good place for people to congregate), and in mass effect kylie shepard has been to all the bars in the galaxy (well, all they show) on ilium, the citadel, and omega. she has had the mystery drink from the asari matriarch, almost been poisoned by a human-hating batarian, and had that krogan drink that knocks you out.

 

and, as with my sl character, the mass effect kylie knocks them back in one gulp. lol.

 

in this pic, she is drinking on the normandy, in the crew area where katsumi stays.

 

in the normandy crew bar there are two drinks: blue and red. the significance is that these are the colors for the two ethical/moral stances you can take: paragon (like good) and renegade (like bad). i don't think any thing happens if you drink the 'wrong' one, but, kylie drinks the blue.

 

i have been playing her mainly paragon, although you can't simply do one or the other. sometimes its obvious (i.e., do you tell the merc to 'get lost' or push him out a window to fall 300 meters?), and sometimes its not (on Tali's mission, at first i was proding her to fight the geth so that quarians could retake their homeworld, which is renegade... although i later, changed that position.) in both cases i was just playing the character and not worrying (well, not too much) about the gameplay consequences.

 

the one time i deliberately chose renegade was the mission to help Thane's son. some slimeball was in an interrogation room and kylie just beat the shit out him to get the information. (although, she does not condone this - on the prison ship Purgatory she stopped the beating of a random prisoner). for thane's son, it was too personal.

 

on Jacob's loyalty mission, i was sorely tempted to let him shoot Capt. Taylor. in fact, i should have done that, i didn't only for gameplay reason - i wanted more paragon points.

 

this picture was taken before the attack on the collector ship to obtain the iff for the omega 4 relay, but the best time for drinking - from a story point of view - was right after a mini-mission to stop a pair of batarian missiles which were headed for a human colony. at the end - and much to my surprise - you can defeat the terrorists but only stop one of the missiles. so you have to choose which set of humans are going to be killed. yeah, yeah, its only a game, and i'm not losing sleep about it in real life. but, at the time, right after that choice kylie needed a drink... or four.

 

(and yes, i know, from the picture it looks like she has a 'drinking problem' but i didn't want to spend an hour just edit the liquid to be on the correct side of the glass.)
