Taken during a photo walk with Flickr friends last year at the first "Weihnachten im Tierpark" ("Christmas at the Tierpark") event at the Tierpark Berlin (one of the two zoos in Berlin) which is located in Berlin's Eastern borough of Friedrichsfelde. The Tierpark was built in 1955 on the grounds of the Friedrichsfelde Palace (built in 1685) as a counterpart for the much older Berlin Zoological garden which is located in the Charlottenburg borough (then West Berlin). While in 1955 there was still no physical border between East and West Berlin, and Berliners from both sectors could still move freely throughout the city, there had been plans to close borders to the Western sectors along the German-German demarcation lines as early as 1952; so it probably was already foreseeable even at that time that the zoo in West Berlin would, at some point, no longer be accessible for the East Berliners (for the Berlin population, though, the building of the wall six years later was an absolute shock).
When you zoom in you can see my Flickr friends standing right in front of the Friedrichsfelde palace. This was the last photowalk we did together before the Corona virus struck. I hope that we will be able to take up our regular meetings / photowalks again sometime in 2021 :)
Dear Flickr friends, I apologize for my tardiness lately; I have very busy days and not as much time for Flickr as I'd wish to have. I hope that soon I'll have more time to visit your streams and comment again :)
Wishing you a Happy 2nd Sunday in Advent, and Happy Sliders Sunday!
Halloween goods are on sale now. Not sure I'd want a full size clown but I thought he'd make a good sliders so took a quick snap in a store.
Given some hdr treatment and a chalk clown background.

When looking for animals yesterday (for Smile on Saturday) I came across this peacock image which I took in Mauritius on a holiday 10 or so years ago. I knew I couldn't use it because more than the face was on the picture but I played with the sliders a little bit and thought I'd post it today.
A Single Rose at Night
Is catching some Moonlight
It wants to shine as bright
As a Star in a Summer’s Night
Not enough to be the Queen of Day
In the Rose’s Month of May
It wants to shine until November
And throughout the Year
For us to remember.

Weekend postcard for Sliders Sunday and the first boat(s) for 2023 :) Taken last May on a nice and sunny walk along the Spree at Berlin's government district. The lady in blue is magrit k..
The historical building on the left is the Reichstag building (the seat of the German government) with Norman Foster's modern dome peeking out between the Flags of Europe and Germany, and the modern building center-right is the Paul-Löbe-Haus that houses offices for the members of the German Bundestag (parliament).
I do not recall any of my sliding/processing steps, because this photo has been waiting patiently in my "Flickr coming soon" desktop folder for a few months. Ever since I put that folder on my desktop, unmissable, so to say, I am actually posting from it. I had said folder on drive D before which meant that I never ever opened it – out of sight, out of mind, I guess ;)
Have a nice weekend, and HSS, Everyone!
The older I get, I'm realizing that beautiful things can arise from the uncultivated, the uncontrived. When toil and striving cease, the peaceful and calm natural surpasses.
Hi everyone,
I thought it would be fun to dress up the poppy by saturating specific colours. Then I applied a radiant effect from Topaz Studio. Happy Slider's Sunday! HSS!
Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving me a comment. I do love hearing from you!
Have an amazing day!

This part of the Corte Madera Marsh only has water in it during our winter rainy season, and the geese flock here to enjoy the fresh water. I took this shot last winter, and now that the rains are beginning to head our way again, hopefully I'll soon be able to get some more shots like this.

Happy Sliders Sunday!
I used a brightly colored pink and blue fabric as the background for the needle/thread. In post I added some HDR and a Ribbet filter called Panography-ish, then added a drop-shadow frame.

Living near a large lake means marinas and lots of boats. I used DDG-text-2 to achieve this slide.
