BNP has been working to develop an FMP for over ten years. In 2000, BNP began development of both an FMP and a new GMP. FMP development began with BNP staff asking the FWC to actively participate in and collaborate on the plan. This was done in recognition that, because of overlapping authority to regulate fishing, BNP and FWC should work together on fishery resource management by jointly developing a plan and subsequent regulations. An MOU was approved by both agencies in 2002, and included shared goals to work cooperatively on fishery management programs for the park. A working group was convened, which held a series of meetings to develop recommendations for the FMP, along with the collection of public comments from 2002-2004. Staff briefed the Commission on the status of the FMP following the release of the working group recommendations, and again periodically between that time and today. The MOU was renewed for another five years in September 2007.

In 2008, BNP developed a series of alternatives for public consideration and comment. BNP and FWC staff then decided on a preferred alternative for the FMP that will be discussed in subsequent slides. The draft FMP was then released in 2008. BNP held public workshops in July of 2009. In August 2010, FWC sent a letter from Chairman Baretto to then Superintedent Mark Lewis confirming the Commission’s intent to initiate rulemaking following the approval of the FMP. Staff brought additional updates to the Commission in November 2011, May 2012, and June 2012. In October 2012, the FWC and BNP renewed the existing MOU for an additional two years, continuing it through October 2014.

My friend Anneliis found a box of slides in a garbage one day. They ended up being paparazzi photos from the 70-80s, some of super famous people. They are amazing. She projects them onto the wall and has friends stand in front of them. She had us over Friday and had me bring my camera. These are the bests.

Slide from a set used to teach biology at Belleville Collegiate Institute and Vocational School, Belleville, Ontario, possibly in the 1920s. The original boxes were labelled 'Junior' and 'Senior', but the contents appear to have been mixed up.

yes the Council decided to put sliding doors on these houses but forgot to take the old ones off first - the Postman never knows if its a real letterbox or just a void between a door & the wall - a lot of residents are still waiting for small food parcels because they can't get out

thanks for looking - have a great day

Indonesia. Sulawesi. Tana Toraja, Rantepao.

Rantepao is the center of the Tana Toraja area, known worldwide for its elaborate and unique funeral traditions, which are a central aspect of its "Aluk To Dolo" (paths of the ancestors) culture.

Toraja funerals are not just a time for mourning, but rather large social celebrations that can bring together more than a thousand guests and last for several days (usually 3 to 5 days, but they can be longer).

The deceased is considered "sick" (and not dead) and is kept at home, often for months or even years, mummified using traditional methods or formaldehyde, until the family has saved enough money to hold an elaborate funeral.

A central and expensive part of the ceremony is the sacrifice of buffalo and pigs. The buffalo are believed to transport the soul of the deceased to Puya (the land of the spirits).

The ceremonies involve ritual dances, processions, and the eventual placement of the body in a rock-cut tomb, a cave, or a suspended sarcophagus.

This particular ceremony in Balusu indicates the importance of the deceased, such as that of a prominent leader. We were told it was a king. There was a large influx of people.

300 pigs and 100 buffaloes were sacrificed.

These rituals reflect the Toraja's strong belief in the continuity of the bonds between the living and the dead, seeing death as a transition to a new phase of existence.

Found Kodachrome slide dated July 1976. Unfortunately, even Google Image Search can't decide where this is.

Yesterday at Goodwill I bought 20 years of someone’s life, in slides. I don’t have a slide scanner at my disposal, but I intend on finding one and scanning all of them. I spent a long time looking through them. They were clearly mostly taken by the father in the family, I’m assuming. There were vacations, trips to the circus, daughters’ proms, present opening on Christmas, and amazing portraits of his wife, spanning the late 50’s to the mid 70’s.

Found Fujichrome slide dated May 1990 manually labelled “Our guide Deborah”.

Found slide in unbranded cardboard mount showing a young man in a check shirt. Like Found Slide - 1832, this has horizontal lines of damage to the celuloid suggesting a problem with the original camera.

Attached to the lid of the box the slides were in, is a Customs Declaration stating that they were imported into Australia from Thailand, and it is dated February 1965. Of course there is no guarantee that this picture was part of the original slides in that box.
