Back on a very cold day in March, my friends Cherry, Chelsey and I embarked to an abandoned slaughter house to photograph model shoots. Here in frame is Cherry, who is wardrobed and scene fitted with Chelsey's concept. The photograph is mine.
The wonderful Cotswold village of Lower Slaughter (Slaughter comes from the Anglo-Saxon 'Slough' meaning 'Muddy Place").
Hey we didn't get it all but, I know for a fact if it wasn't circled it wouldn't have been seen. We had a hard time seeing it as it was.
Upper Slaughter and Lower Slaughter are two of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds.
The name of Slaughter has no connection with blood but is derived from the old English word Slohtre meaning a muddy place, which it may once have been but not anymore. :-)
I spent two wonderful days in Cotswolds with my beloved husband and loved the place very much.
I feel like I am falling in love with English countryside! :-)
This funeral statuette depicts oxen being slaughtered. At the funeral ceremony, during the ritual of opening the mouth, the deceased was offered the foreleg and heart of a bovine as a sacrifice. Through them, the deceased would gain strength for the afterlife. During the ritual of opening the mouth, the priest would touch the mouth of the deceased with various instruments. Thus restoring the senses and bodily functions of the deceased - functions they would need in the afterlife.

Down by the riverside in the beautiful Cotswold Village of Lower Slaughter, England.
The name of the village of Lower Slaughter stems from the Old English name for a wet land 'slough' or 'slothre' (Old English for muddy place) upon which it lies. This quaint village sits beside the little Eye stream and is known for its unspoilt limestone cottages in the traditional Cotswold style.
The stream running through the village is crossed by two small bridges and the local attraction is a converted mill with original water wheel selling craft type products and includes a cafe..

Updated Sgt. Slaughter to his Marauders colors, which is where my real Slaughter nostalgia sweet spot lies.
Footloose and Mutt are recently made, Barbeque, Low Light, and Spirit are slight upgrades of figures I'd already made.
