The Leicaflex SL2 could be the best Leica SLR ever made, meint James Tocchio auf seiner Seite und äußert sich auch sonst ganz begeistert über diese Kamera (Auszüge):
Aesthetically speaking, the SL2 is everything I want in a camera.
It’s been meticulously designed to not only look good, but serve its function in the most direct way possible.
The SL2 improves on the Leicaflex and Leicaflex SL in ways that seem insignificant on paper, but are practically very important.
It’s rare to own an object that we can use for fifty years, that can then be passed onto our kids or a friend for their use over the next fifty years. The SL2 is this kind of object.
▪ um eine veränderte Spiegelkonstruktion, damit die Retrofokus-Objektive (z. B. das 24er) passen;
▪ um eine signifikant gesteigerte Empfindlichkeit des Belichtungsmessers;

During the first lockdown I bought a Panasonic Lumix S1R outfit. Not because i needed it or particularly wanted it but because I got a phenomenal deal from Wilkinson Cameras. I bought the S1R with 24-105mm f4 kit lens and got the Panasonic 50mm f1.4 for free. This lens at the time was priced at £2,300! My thinking was that I could play with it for a while. If I liked it, fine, I would keep it but if not I could sell it and not be out of pocket. The problem is that I love the lenses, which are amazing but I don't enjoy using the camera. The ergonomics are OK but I just don't like the colour science. I don't seem to be able to get the colours the way I want them easily. As the lenses are so good I decided to buy a used Leica SL to see if that resulted in colours more to my liking.
The verdict? I love the Leica colours. One or two clicks in ACR and I'm a happy bunny. However, it's not all good news. I find the minimalist style of Leica ergonomics a real pain. It's early days and I expect I'll eventually get used to it but at the moment I don't find it at all intuitive. Once I get round to customising the buttons it should be a lot easier. The focusing is slower than the S1R but for my style of photography that's not a problem and I don't find it as bad as some people claim and it is accurate.
I don't claim any artistic merit for these images but they do illustrate the sort of colours obtainable from the Leica.
