A little background on the pic used for the first group cover:
The place it was taken was at a sim once called Lion's Pride. It was one of many awesome neko themed sims out there back in 2007. Ioh is sitting on the head of a wooden cat statue.
Lion's Pride was one of the first homes Ioh had on SL. It was where he used to go with one of his first girlfriends, who became something of a prototype of the later kittens known as the Felix Amans, or loving kittens. There's something of a story of them in the Beginnings of a Dreamwalker album. There's a lot of pictures that sum up a good deal of RP from Midian from about 2007 - 2009 in that album. It's kind of part reflection, and part confessional, and kind of deals with the craziness we can sometimes get into in SL, or even Opensim, for that matter. Though it's much easier in SL, with as many people reside on the one grid compared to being dispersed into numerous grids and standalone instances on Opensim.
Anyways, so this first girlfriend was a Gorean, but she also played a neko. It was from her that I had my first taste of sorts of SL RP, even though I didn't really consider myself an RPer then. But it was a fantasy sort of romance, with trying to free her from her Master, and then her Master trying to take her back, and just the whole drama behind it.
And yes, I said it. Drama. Face it folks, and my dear kitties, the reality behind the fantasy of RP, and, to some extent, the intrigue of SL in general, has to do with drama. But, of course there's good drama, and there's bad drama. The main difference is that the good drama is what you want to get into - the bad drama, not so much.
But, anyways, Ioh was sitting on this cat head of the wooden statue, sulking about how his first kitten was off with her Master. Some friends tried to console him that her Master cared for her, but that didn't help much, since Ioh cared for her too. He didn't know what he could do, since, as a neko, he couldn't just go off to Gor. Granted, a lot of female kitties hid thier ears, tails, and whatnot, and found their way to Gor just fine, but Ioh wasn't for that, and so he just sat there, hoping to find a way to reach her and get her out of slavery, which he was always taught was bad. Of course, he was thinking of the black slave trade and the horrors of that as his main reference, and of which he studied the slave narratives, and no, slavery wasn't his thing. Never mind that he did get into a bit of light bondage with his Felixi, but that's for another story. *ahem* <.<
The point is, this was drama, this was fantasy. And this made for an incredible story and memory for Ioh, with all the good, bad, the glamorous and the not-so glamorous aspects of life. Drama challenges us, and it can also entertain us. But most of all, it's something we have to learn to deal with and grow from.
I won't expect everyone to agree with what Ioh has done in RP or general SL drama. That's not the point of writing this. The point is that what we make has an impact, whether it be personal and internal to us, or extends out to many other people. Fantasy is out there to explore and make memories that will last a life time. Or, they may easily be forgotten.
It's your choice what you want to do, and where you want to go in your fantasies. So what amazing journey do you want to go on?
And if you're wondering about the song choice? Well, it's cheeky, and I think we're all suckers for a bit of fantasy to drop itself into our lives. =~.^=
