A new day dawns over the valleys below Skyline Drive much like the new year is dawning around the world.
I wish you all a very good new year!
Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina. Somewhere in North Carolina I pulled over again. I was chasing color. After peak in New England, I was finding it south in longitude and down in elevation. Far below me, as Carolina stretched southward, the color was as intense as it can get, autumn receding into the gaps and drainages a trhousand feet down. I will get down there; I'm nearly on top of this part of the world, and there's nowhere to go but down. I chase color, and I chase sunrises, sunsets, weather, seasons, time, life, and my heart. And so do they all chase me. Looking for inspiration, I stared into summer's end until it made my eyes water, as endings usually do.
While drove thru Skyline drive in 1988, found this beautiful scene and took it with Canon Canonet QL17 Film Camera

I'm really bad at keeping up with things these days. Things like flickr.

Thornton Hollow Overlook (on Skyline Drive) is a favorite spot of mine for sunrises. Now that the leaves are gone, the wind doesn't matter with the tree in the foreground!
Rushing water from recent rains and colors starting to show on the stream that feeds Dark Hollow Falls in Shenandoah National Park.
